1 Tessalonisense 4

1 My liewe broers en susters, ek het julle geleer presies hoe julle moet leef om God se hart bly te maak. En julle doen dit ook. Nou vra ek julle baie ernstig in die Naam van die Here Jesus, span julle selfs nog meer in om al hierdie dinge te doen.
2 Julle onthou wat ek alles vir julle geleer het. Dit kom direk van die Here Jesus af. Daarom moet julle dit asseblief ook doen.
3 God wil hê julle moet julle lewe voltyds aan Hom wy. Moenie deel hê aan enige seksuele sondes wat teen God se wil indruis nie.4 Julle en julle huweliksmaats is eksklusief aan mekaar gegee. Behandel mekaar met groot respek.
5 Julle huwelik moet so kosbaar wees dat daar geen tyd of plek vir verkeerde seksuele begeertes in julle lewe is nie. Ongelowiges wat hulle nie aan God steur nie, vang al daardie vieslike dinge aan.6 Ek waarsku julle, moenie julle aan verkeerde seksuele gedrag skuldig maak nie. Onder geen omstandighede mag julle 'n skelm verhouding met 'n ander gelowige se huweliksmaat hê nie. Onthou, die Here sien dit raak. Hy straf sulke sondes.
7 God gee glad nie aan ons die reg om seksueel losbandig te leef nie. Inteendeel, ons hele lewe moet wys dat ons nou aan Hom behoort.
8 Mense wat hulle nie steur aan wat ek sê nie, maak 'n bespotting van God wat sy Heilige Gees aan julle gegee het.
9  Ek het nie nodig om nog iets te sê oor hoe julle mekaar as gelowiges moet liefhê nie. God self het julle geleer hoe om mekaar lief te hê.
10 Ek weet julle is regtig lief vir al die gelowiges daar in die provinsie Masedonië. Maar, my liewe broers en susters, ek vra julle baie ernstig, gee asseblief nog meer vir ander gelowiges om.
11 Leef op so 'n manier dat ander mense vir julle respek sal hê. Leef rustig en sorg self vir julle gesin. Verdien julle geld deur self daarvoor te werk. Ek het hierdie dinge vir julle gesê toe ek by julle was.12 As julle dit doen, sal ander mense wat nie aan die kerk behoort nie, ook respek vir julle hê. Boonop sal julle dan ook genoeg hê om van te leef sodat julle niemand in die oë hoef te kyk nie.
13  My broers en susters, ek wil nie hê julle moet vrae hê oor wat gaan gebeur met dié gelowiges wat reeds dood is op daardie dag wanneer Christus terugkom na die wêreld toe nie. Moenie so hartseer wees soos ongelowiges wat geen hoop het wanneer hulle geliefdes doodgaan nie.
14 Ons glo mos dat Jesus aan die kruis dood is en dat Hy daarna uit die dood opgestaan het. Net so sal God almal wat voor hulle dood in Jesus geglo het, saam met Hom bring wanneer Hy weer na ons toe kom.15 Die Here het gesê dat ons wat nog lewe op daardie dag wanneer die Here terugkom, glad nie belangriker of beter daaraan toe sal wees as die gelowiges wat reeds dood is nie.
16 Wanneer God beveel dat die laaste dag aanbreek, sal die heel belangrikste engel in die hemel skielik kliphard uitroep. God se hemelse trompet sal ook begin blaas. Terwyl dit gebeur, sal die Here na die aarde toe kom. Al die Christene wat reeds dood is, sal lewendig word.17 Dan sal ons wat nog lewe saam met hierdie gelowiges weggeneem word op die wolke. Ons almal sal die Here in die lug ontmoet. Daarna sal ons almal vir altyd by die Here bly.
18 Vertel hierdie goeie nuus vir ander gelowiges en moedig mekaar aan om dit te glo.

1 Thessalonians 4

A Life Pleasing to God

1 Finally then, brothers and sisters,t we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about hows you must live and please God (as you are in fact living)s that you do so more and more.2 For you know what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus.3 For this is God’s will: that you become holy,t that you keep away from sexual immorality,4 that each of you know how to possess his own bodyt in holiness and honor,5 not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God.6 In this matter no one should violate the rights of his brother or take advantage of him,t because the Lord is the avenger in all these cases,t as we also told you earlier and warned you solemnly.7 For God did not call us to impurity but in holiness.

8 Consequently the one who rejects this is not rejecting human authorityt but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
9 Now on the topic of brotherly lovet you have no need for anyone to write you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.10 And indeed you are practicing it toward all the brothers and sisterst in all of Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,s11 to aspire to lead a quiet life, to attend to your own business, and to work with your hands, as we commanded you.

12 In this way you will livet a decent life before outsiders and not be in need.t

The Lord Returns for Believers

13 Now we do not want you to be uninformed,t brothers and sisters,t about those who are asleep,t so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe thatt God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians.t15 For we tell you this by the word of the Lord,s that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not go ahead of those who have fallen asleep.16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel,t and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.17 Then we who are alive, who are left,s will be suddenly caught upt togethert with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
