하나님을 기쁘게 해 드리는 생활
1 그러므로 t형제자매 여러분, 끝으로 우리는 주 예수 안에서 여러분에게 부탁하며 권면합니다. 여러분은 어떻게 살아야 하며, 어떻게 하나님을 기쁘게 해 드려야 할 것인지를, 우리에게서 배운 대로 하고 있으니, 더욱 그렇게 하십시오. 2 우리가 주 예수의 이름으로 무슨 지시를 여러분에게 내렸는지를, 여러분은 알고 있습니다. 3 하나님의 뜻은 여러분이 성결하게 되는 것입니다. 여러분은 음행을 멀리하여야 합니다. 4 각 사람은 t자기 아내를 거룩함과 존중함으로 대할 줄 알아야 합니다. 5 하나님을 알지 못하는 이방 사람과 같이, 색욕에 빠져서는 안됩니다. 6 또 이런 일에 탈선을 하거나 자기 t교우를 해하거나 하지 말아야 합니다. 우리가 여러분에게 전에도 말하고 경고한 대로, 주님께서는 이런 모든 일을 징벌하시는 분이시기 때문입니다. 7 하나님께서 우리를 불러 주신 것은, 더러움에 빠져 살게 하시려는 것이 아니라, 거룩함에 이르게 하시려는 것입니다. 8 그러므로 이 경고를 저버리는 사람은, 사람을 저버리는 것이 아니라, 여러분에게 성령을 주시는 하나님을 저버리는 것입니다. 9 t교우들에 대한 사랑을 두고서는, 여러분에게 더 쓸 필요가 없겠습니다. 여러분이 직접 하나님께로부터 서로 사랑하라고 하시는 가르침을 받아서, 10 온 마케도니아에 있는 모든 t형제자매에게 그것을 실행하고 있기 때문입니다. t형제자매 여러분, 우리는 여러분이 더욱더 그렇게 하기를 권면합니다. 11 그리고 우리가 여러분에게 명령한 대로, 조용하게 살기를 힘쓰고, 자기 일에 전념하고, 자기 손으로 일을 하십시오. 12 그리하여 여러분은 바깥 사람을 대하여 품위 있게 살아가야 하고, 또 아무에게도 신세를 지는 일이 없도록 해야 할 것입니다.

t형제자매 여러분, 우리는 여러분이 t잠든 사람의 문제를 모르고 지내는 것을 원하지 않습니다. 여러분은 소망을 가지지 못한 다른 사람들과 같이 슬퍼하지 않아야 할 것입니다. 14 우리는 예수께서 죽으셨다가 살아나신 것을 믿습니다. 이와 같이 하나님께서 예수 안에서 t잠든 사람들도 예수와 함께 데리고 오실 것입니다.
15 우리는 주님의 말씀으로 여러분에게 이것을 말합니다. 주님께서 오실 때까지 살아 남아 있는 우리가, 이미 잠든 사람들보다 결코 앞서지 못할 것입니다. 16 주님께서 호령과 천사장의 소리와 하나님의 나팔 소리와 함께 친히 하늘로부터 내려오실 것이니, 그리스도 안에서 죽은 사람들이 먼저 일어나고, 17 그 다음에 살아 남아 있는 우리가 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 이끌려 올라가서, 공중에서 주님을 영접할 것입니다. 이리하여 우리가 항상 주님과 함께 있을 것입니다. 18 그러므로 여러분은 이런 말로 서로 위로하십시오.

A Life That Pleases God
1 Finally, my dear friends, since you belong to the Lord Jesus, we beg and urge you to live as we taught you. Then you will please God. You are already living that way, but try even harder. 2 Remember the instructions we gave you as followers of the Lord Jesus. 3 God wants you to be holy, so don't be immoral in matters of sex. 4 Respect and honor your wife.t 5 Don't be a slave of your desires or live like people who don't know God. 6 You must not cheat any of the Lord's followers in matters of sex.t Remember, we warned you that he punishes everyone who does such things. 7 God didn't choose you to be filthy, but to be pure.
8 So if you don't obey these rules, you are not really disobeying us. Instead, you are disobeying God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
9 We don't have to write you about the need to love each other. God has taught you to do this, 10 and you already have shown your love for all his people in Macedonia. But, my dear friends, we ask you to do even more. 11 Try your best to live quietly, to mind your own business, and to work hard, just as we taught you to do.
12 t Then you will be respected by people who are not followers of the Lord, and you won't have to depend on anyone.The Lord's Coming
13 My friends, we want you to understand how it will be for those followers who have already died. Then you won't grieve over them and be like people who don't have any hope. 14 We believe Jesus died and was raised to life. We also believe that when God brings Jesus back again, he will bring with him all who had faith in Jesus before they died.
15 t t Our Lord Jesus told us that when he comes, we won't go up to meet him ahead of his followers who have already died.
16 t With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God's trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. 17 Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever. 18 Encourage each other with these words.
