ชีวิตที่พอพระทัยพระเจ้า
1 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ในที่สุดนี้ เนื่องจากเราได้สอนท่านถึงวิธีดำเนินชีวิตซึ่งจะเป็นที่พอพระทัยพระเจ้า และท่านดำเนินอย่างนั้นอยู่แล้ว เราจึงขอวิงวอนและเตือนสติท่านในพระเยซูองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า จงดำเนินให้ดียิ่งขึ้นอีก 2 เพราะพวกท่านทราบคำแนะนำซึ่งเราได้ให้ไว้กับท่านในพระนามของพระเยซูองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแล้ว 3 พระประสงค์ของพระเจ้าเป็นอย่างนี้คือ ให้พวกท่านเป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ คือให้เว้นจากการล่วงประเวณี 4 ให้ท่านทุกคนรู้จักบังคับร่างกายของตนtในทางบริสุทธิ์ และในทางที่มีเกียรติ 5 ไม่ใช่ด้วยราคะตัณหาเหมือนอย่างคนต่างชาติที่ไม่รู้จักพระเจ้า 6 อย่าล่วงเกินและทำผิดต่อพี่น้องในเรื่องนี้เลย เพราะว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า เป็นผู้ทรงลงโทษคนที่ทำผิดอย่างนั้น เหมือนอย่างที่เราได้เตือนสอนและบอกไว้ก่อนแล้ว 7 เพราะพระเจ้าไม่ได้ทรงเรียกเราให้เป็นคนลามก แต่ทรงเรียกให้เป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ 8 เหตุฉะนั้นคนที่ปฏิเสธคำสอนนี้ไม่ได้ปฏิเสธมนุษย์เท่านั้น แต่ได้ปฏิเสธพระเจ้า ผู้ประทานพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ของพระองค์ให้แก่ท่าน
9 ส่วนเรื่องการรักพี่น้องนั้น ไม่จำเป็นที่จะให้ใครเขียนถึงพวกท่านอีก เพราะพระเจ้าทรงสอนท่านเองให้รักกันอยู่แล้ว 10 ความจริงท่านได้ประพฤติต่อพี่น้องทุกคนทั่วแคว้นมาซิโดเนียเช่นนั้นอยู่ แต่พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ขอให้ท่านทำอย่างนี้มากขึ้นอีก 11 และจงตั้งเป้าว่าจะอยู่อย่างสงบ และทำกิจธุระส่วนของตน และทำงานด้วยมือของตนเอง เหมือนอย่างที่เรากำชับท่านแล้ว 12 เพื่อพวกท่านจะได้เป็นที่นับถือของคนภายนอก และไม่ต้องรบกวนใครtเลย
การเสด็จกลับมาขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
13 พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราไม่อยากให้ท่านขาดความเข้าใจเรื่องคนที่ล่วงหลับไปแล้ว เพื่อท่านจะไม่เป็นทุกข์โศกเศร้า อย่างคนอื่นๆ ที่ไม่มีความหวัง 14 เพราะในเมื่อเราเชื่อว่าพระเยซูสิ้นพระชนม์และคืนพระชนม์แล้ว โดยพระเยซูนั้น พระเจ้าจะทรงนำบรรดาคนที่ล่วงหลับไปแล้วนั้นมากับพระองค์ 15 ตามพระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า เราขอบอกพวกท่านข้อนี้ว่า เราที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่และคอยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเสด็จมา จะไม่ล่วงหน้าไปก่อนพวกที่ล่วงหลับไปแล้ว 16 คือว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะเสด็จมาจากสวรรค์ด้วยพระดำรัสสั่ง ด้วยเสียงเรียกของหัวหน้าทูตสวรรค์และด้วยเสียงแตรของพระเจ้า และทุกคนที่ตายแล้วในพระคริสต์จะเป็นขึ้นมาก่อน
17 หลังจากนั้นพระเจ้าจะทรงรับพวกเราซึ่งยังมีชีวิตอยู่ขึ้นไปในเมฆพร้อมกับคนเหล่านั้น และจะได้พบองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าในฟ้าอากาศ อย่างนั้นแหละ เราก็จะอยู่กับองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเป็นนิตย์t 18 เพราะฉะนั้น จงหนุนใจกันด้วยถ้อยคำเหล่านี้เถิด
1 Thessalonians 4
1 Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.2 For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;4 that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;6 that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.8 Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.9 But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;10 for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;11 and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;12 that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.13 But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;17 then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
