Az Istennek tetsző élet

1 Testvéreim, most szeretnék valami másról írni. Tanítottunk titeket arra, hogyan éljetek Istennek tetsző módon, és valóban úgy is éltek. Ezért most kérünk és biztatunk benneteket az Úr Jézus nevében, hogy ebben jussatok még előbbre!

2 Hiszen jól tudjátok, mit parancsoltunk nektek Jézus Krisztus nevében.

3 Isten azt akarja, hogy váljatok szentekké, és távolodjatok el minden szexuális bűntől.

4 Azt akarja, hogy mindegyikőtök tanulja meg, hogyan kell a saját teste fölött uralkodnia. Olyan tisztességes módon bánjatok a testetekkel, hogy az valóban csak Istennek szolgáljon.t

5 Ne adjátok át testeteket a szenvedélyes kívánságoknak, vagy szexuális bűnöknek, mint a hitetlenek, akik nem ismerik Istent.

6 A testvéreiteknek ne okozzatok kárt, és ne csapjátok be egymást, mert ezt megbünteti az Úr! Erre már régebben figyelmeztettünk benneteket.

7 Az Úr szent életre hívott el bennünket, és nem arra, hogy bűnben éljünk!

8 Ezért, aki nem akar engedelmeskedni ennek a tanításnak, az nem emberek tanácsát utasítja el, hanem Istennel szemben engedetlen. Pedig Isten a saját Szellemét adta nekünk!

9 A testvéri szeretetről nem is kell nektek írnom, hiszen titeket már maga Isten megtanított arra, hogyan szeressétek egymást.

10 Ti valóban szeretitek minden testvéreteket egész Macedóniában! Csak arra biztatlak, hogy ezt folytassátok!

11 Tartsátok becsületbeli dolognak, hogy csendesen és békésen éljetek! Mindenki gondosan végezze a maga dolgát, és saját kezével keresse meg a kenyerét! Ezt már korábban is parancsoltuk nektek.

12 Ha ezt megfogadjátok, még a hitetlenek is tisztelni fognak, és nem szorultok mások segítségére.

Amikor az Úr visszajön

13 Tudjátok, hogy a hitetlenek, akiknek nincs miben reménykedniük, gyászolnak és szomorkodnak azok miatt, akik már meghaltak. Azt akarjuk, hogy ti ne bánkódjatok, hanem tudjátok, hogy mi lesz a sorsa azoknak a testvéreinknek, akik már meghaltak.

14 Mert ha hisszük, hogy Jézus meghalt, azután pedig feltámadt a halálból, akkor azt is hisszük, hogy Isten visszahozza azokat a testvéreinket is Jézussal együtt, akik benne bízva haltak meg.

15 Ezt pedig úgy mondjuk nektek, mintha maga az Úr mondaná: mi, akik még akkor is élni fogunk, amikor az Úr visszajön, nem fogjuk megelőzni azokat a testvéreinket, akik már korábban meghaltak.

16 Akkor maga az Úr fog leszállni a Mennyből! Felhangzik egy hangos parancsszó, az angyalok fejedelmének hangja, és Isten trombitajele. Erre azok fognak feltámadni, akik úgy haltak meg, hogy hittek Krisztusban. Ők lesznek az elsők.

17 Ezután mi következünk, akik akkor életben leszünk. Feltámadott testvéreinkkel együtt az Úr fölemel magához bennünket a felhőkön a magasba. Együtt fogunk mindannyian szemtől-szembe találkozni az Úrral fönt, a levegőben. Ettől a pillanattól fogva pedig mindörökké együtt fogunk lakni Urunkkal!

18 Ezzel vigasztaljátok és bátorítsátok egymást!

Sanctification and Love

1 Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do twalk), that you excel still more.2 For you know what commandments we gave you tby the authority of the Lord Jesus.3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;4 that each of you know how to possess his own tvessel in sanctification and honor,5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;6  and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

9 Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;10 for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more,11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,12 so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.

Those Who Died in Christ

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
