1. Tessalonikar 5

1  t Men om timane og tidene treng vi ikkje skriva til dykk, sysken. 2 t For de veit godt at Herrens dag kjem som ein tjuv om natta. 3 t Når folk seier: «Fred og ingen fare», då kjem undergangen over dei, brått som riene over ei kvinne som skal føda, og dei kan ikkje sleppa unna. 4 t Men de, sysken, er ikkje i mørkret, så dagen skulle koma uventa på dykk som ein tjuv. 5 t For de er alle born av lyset og born av dagen; vi høyrer ikkje natta eller mørkret til. 6 t Så lat oss ikkje sova som dei andre, men vaka og vera edrue! 7 For dei som søv, dei søv om natta, og dei som drikk seg fulle, dei drikk om natta. 8 t Men vi som høyrer dagen til, vi skal vera edrue, kledde med tru og kjærleik som brynje og med vona om frelse som hjelm. 9 t For Gud har ikkje valt oss ut til vreide, men til å vinna frelse ved vår Herre Jesus Kristus. 10 t Han døydde for oss så vi skal leva saman med han anten vi vaker eller søv.

11 t Difor må de setja mot i kvarandre og oppbyggja kvarandre, som de òg gjer.

Livet i forsamlinga

13 t De skal visa dei den største kjærleik og respekt på grunn av den gjerninga dei gjer. Lat freden råda mellom dykk!
14  t Vi legg dykk på hjartet, sysken: Tal til rette dei som ikkje held orden på livet sitt, set mot i dei motlause, ta dykk av dei veike, ver tolmodige mot alle!

15 t Sjå til at ingen løner vondt med vondt, men legg vinn på å gjera godt mot kvarandre, ja, mot alle!

16  t Ver alltid glade!

17  t Be uavlateleg!

18  t Takk Gud, kva som enn møter dykk!
For dette er Guds vilje med dykk i Kristus Jesus.

19 Sløkk ikkje ut Anden!

20  t Forakt ikkje profetord,

21  t men prøv alt og hald fast på det gode!

22  t Hald dykk ifrå vondskap av alle slag!
23  t Må han sjølv, fredens Gud, helga dykk heilt igjennom. Og gjev at dykkar ånd og sjel og kropp må haldast uskadde, så de kan vera ulastelege når vår Herre Jesus Kristus kjem!

24 t Trufast er han som kallar dykk til dette. Han skal òg fullføra det.

Sluttord

27 t Eg byd dykk ved Herren at dette brevet skal lesast opp for dei alle.
28 Vår Herre Jesu Kristi nåde vere med dykk!

1 THESSALONIANS 5

1 I don't need to write you about the time or date when all this will happen. 2 t You surely know that the Lord's returnt will be as a thief coming at night.

3 People will think they are safe and secure. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape.
4 My dear friends, you don't live in darkness, and so that day won't surprise you like a thief. 5 You belong to the light and live in the day. We don't live in the night or belong to the dark. 6 Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert. 7 People sleep during the night, and some even get drunk.

8 t But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet.
9 God doesn't intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 Christ died for us, so we could live with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes.

11 This is why you must encourage and help each other, just as you are already doing.

Final Instructions //and Greetings

15 Don't be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else.
16 Always be joyful 17 and never stop praying.

18 Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
19 Don't turn away God's Spirit 20 or ignore prophecies. 21 Put everything to the test. Accept what is good

22 and don't have anything to do with evil.
23 I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

24 The one who chose you can be trusted, and he will do this.

25 Friends, please pray for us.

26 Give the Lord's followers a warm greeting.
