데살로니가전서 5

1  t형제자매 여러분, 그 때와 시기를 두고서는 여러분에게 더 쓸 필요가 없겠습니다. 2 주님의 날이 밤에 도둑처럼 온다는 것을, 여러분은 자세히 알고 있습니다. 3 사람들이 “평안하다, 안전하다” 하고 말할 그 때에, 아기를 밴 여인에게 해산의 진통이 오는 것과 같이, 갑자기 멸망이 그들에게 닥칠 것이니, 그것을 피하지 못할 것입니다. 4 그러나 t형제자매 여러분, 여러분은 어둠 속에 있지 아니하므로, 그 날이 여러분에게 도둑과 같이 덮치지는 않을 것입니다. 5 여러분은 모두 빛의 자녀요, 낮의 자녀입니다. 우리는 밤이나 어둠에 속한 사람이 아닙니다. 6 그러므로 우리는 다른 사람들처럼 잠자지 말고, 깨어 있으며, 정신을 차립시다. 7 잠자는 자들은 밤에 자고, 술에 취하는 자들도 밤에 취합니다. 8 그러나 우리는 낮에 속한 사람이므로, 정신을 차리고, 믿음과 사랑을 가슴막이 갑옷으로 입고, 구원의 소망을 투구로 씁시다. 9 하나님께서는 우리를 진노하심에 이르도록 정하여 놓으신 것이 아니라, 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 구원을 얻도록 정하여 놓으셨습니다. 10 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으신 것은, 우리가 깨어 있든지 자고 있든지, 그리스도와 함께 살게 하시려는 것입니다. 11 그러므로 여러분은 지금도 그렇게 하는 것과 같이, 서로 격려하고, 서로 덕을 세우십시오.

마지막 권고와 인사

12  t형제자매 여러분, 우리는 여러분에게 부탁합니다. 여러분 가운데서 수고하며, 주님 안에서 여러분을 지도하고 훈계하는 이들을 알아보십시오. 13 그들이 하는 일을 생각해서 사랑으로 그들을 극진히 존경하십시오. 여러분은 서로 화목하게 지내십시오. 14 t형제자매 여러분, 여러분에게 권고합니다. 무질서하게 사는 사람을 훈계하고, 마음이 약한 사람을 격려하고, 힘이 없는 사람을 도와주고, 모든 사람에게 오래 참으십시오. 15 아무도 악으로 악을 갚지 말고, 도리어 서로에게, 모든 사람에게, 항상 좋은 일을 하려고 애쓰십시오. 16 항상 기뻐하십시오. 17 끊임없이 기도하십시오. 18 모든 일에 감사하십시오. 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 여러분에게 바라시는 하나님의 뜻입니다. 19 성령을 소멸하지 마십시오. 20 예언을 멸시하지 마십시오. 21 모든 것을 분간하고, 좋은 것을 굳게 잡으십시오. 22 갖가지 모양의 악을 멀리 하십시오. 23 평화의 하나님께서 친히, 여러분을 완전히 거룩하게 해 주시고, 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 오실 때에 여러분의 영과 혼과 몸을 흠이 없이 t완전하게 지켜 주시기를 빕니다. 24 여러분을 부르시는 분은 신실하시니, 이 일을 또한 이루실 것입니다. 25  t형제자매 여러분, 우리를 위하여 기도해 주십시오. 26 거룩한 입맞춤으로 모든 t믿는 사람들에게 문안해 주십시오. 27 나는 주님을 힘입어 여러분에게 명합니다. 모든 t믿는 사람들에게 이 편지를 읽어 주십시오. 28 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 여러분과 함께 하기를 빕니다.t

1 THESSALONIANS 5

1 I don't need to write you about the time or date when all this will happen. 2 t You surely know that the Lord's returnt will be as a thief coming at night.

3 People will think they are safe and secure. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape.
4 My dear friends, you don't live in darkness, and so that day won't surprise you like a thief. 5 You belong to the light and live in the day. We don't live in the night or belong to the dark. 6 Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert. 7 People sleep during the night, and some even get drunk.

8 t But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet.
9 God doesn't intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 Christ died for us, so we could live with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes.

11 This is why you must encourage and help each other, just as you are already doing.

Final Instructions //and Greetings


12 My friends, we ask you to be thoughtful of your leaders who work hard and tell you how to live for the Lord. 13 Show them great respect and love because of their work. Try to get along with each other. 14 My friends, we beg you to warn anyone who isn't living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone.

15 Don't be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else.
16 Always be joyful 17 and never stop praying.

18 Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
19 Don't turn away God's Spirit 20 or ignore prophecies. 21 Put everything to the test. Accept what is good

22 and don't have anything to do with evil.
23 I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

24 The one who chose you can be trusted, and he will do this.

25 Friends, please pray for us.

26 Give the Lord's followers a warm greeting.

27 In the name of the Lord I beg you to read this letter to all his followers.
28 I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you!
