1 Hermanos míos, no hace falta que yo les escriba acerca del momento exacto en que todo esto ocurrirá.2 Ustedes saben muy bien que el Señor Jesús regresará en el día menos esperado, como un ladrón en la noche.3 Cuando la gente diga: «Todo está tranquilo y no hay por qué tener miedo», entonces todo será destruido de repente. Nadie podrá escapar, pues sucederá en el momento menos esperado, como cuando le vienen los dolores de parto a una mujer embarazada. ¡No podrán escapar!4 Pero ustedes, hermanos, no viven en la ignorancia, así que el regreso del Señor Jesús no los sorprenderá como un ladrón en la noche.5 Todos ustedes confían en el Señor Jesús, y eso es como vivir a plena luz del día, y no en la oscuridad.6 Por eso, debemos mantenernos alerta y vivir correctamente, y no tan despreocupados como viven algunos.7 Los que viven pecando y emborrachándose, y sin preocuparse por el regreso del Señor Jesús, realmente viven en la oscuridad.8 Pero nosotros no vivimos en la oscuridad, sino en la luz. Por eso debemos mantenernos alerta, y confiar en Dios y amar a toda persona. ¡Nuestra confianza y nuestro amor nos pueden proteger del pecado como una armadura! Y si no dudamos nunca de nuestra salvación, esa seguridad nos protegerá como un casco.9 Porque Dios no nos ha llamado para castigarnos, sino para que recibamos la salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.10 Porque Jesucristo murió por nosotros para que podamos vivir con él, ya sea que estemos vivos o muertos cuando él vuelva.

11 Por eso, anímense los unos a los otros, y ayúdense a fortalecer su vida cristiana, como ya lo están haciendo.

Instrucciones finales

12 Hermanos, les rogamos que respeten a los líderes de la iglesia. Ellos se esfuerzan mucho para enseñarles a vivir su vida cristiana.

13 Por eso, trátenlos con respeto y amor por todo lo que hacen, y vivan en paz los unos con los otros.

14 También les recomendamos, hermanos, que reprendan a los que no quieren hacer nada. Animen a los que son tímidos, apoyen a los que todavía dudan del Señor Jesús, y tengan paciencia con todos.

15 No permitan que nadie devuelva un mal con otro mal. Al contrario, deben esforzarse por hacer el bien entre ustedes mismos y con todos los demás.
16 Estén siempre contentos.17 Oren en todo momento.18 Den gracias a Dios en cualquier circunstancia. Esto es lo que Dios espera de ustedes, como cristianos que son.19 No alejen de ustedes al Espíritu Santo.20 Y si él les da la capacidad de profetizar, no la desprecien.21 Pónganlo todo a prueba, pero quédense nada más con lo bueno,

22 y rechacen todo lo malo.
23 Que el Dios de paz los mantenga completamente dedicados a su servicio. Que los conserve sin pecado hasta que vuelva nuestro Señor Jesucristo, para que ni el espíritu ni el alma, ni el cuerpo de ustedes sean hallados culpables delante de Dios.

24 Él los eligió para ser parte de su pueblo, y hará todo esto porque siempre cumple lo que promete.

25 Hermanos, oren también por nosotros.

26 Saluden con un beso santo t a todos los hermanos de la iglesia.

27 Con la autoridad que me da el Señor Jesús, les encargo que lean esta carta a todos los de la iglesia.

28 Pido a nuestro Señor Jesucristo que les siga mostrando su amor.

1 Thessalonians 5

1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that aught be written unto you.2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.3 When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief:5 for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness;6 so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober.7 For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.8 But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.9 For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.11 Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.12 But we beseech you, brethren, to know them that labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;13 and to esteem them exceeding highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.14 And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.15 See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.16 Rejoice always;17 pray without ceasing;18 in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward.19 Quench not the Spirit;20 despise not prophesyings;21 prove all things; hold fast that which is good;22 abstain from every form of evil.23 And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.25 Brethren, pray for us.26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.27 I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the brethren.28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
