1 Tesalonicenses 5

1 Hermanos, no necesitamos escribirles nada sobre días y fechas.2 Ustedes saben muy bien que el día en que el Señor regrese será una sorpresa, vendrá como cuando un ladrón llega en la noche.

3 Cuando la gente diga: «Estamos en paz y a salvo», la destrucción vendrá de repente así como le vienen de repente los dolores a una mujer a punto de dar a luz, nadie podrá escapar.
4 Pero ustedes, hermanos, no están viviendo en la oscuridad como para que ese día los tome por sorpresa como un ladrón.5 Todos ustedes pertenecen a la luz y al día; no pertenecemos a la noche ni a la oscuridad.6 Entonces no debemos ser como los demás ni estar dormidos, sino estar despiertos y tener dominio propio.7 Pues los que duermen, duermen de noche y los que se emborrachan, se emborrachan de noche.8 Nosotros pertenecemos al día, así que debemos tener control de nosotros mismos, protegiéndonos con la coraza de la fe y el amor, y usando la esperanza de salvación como casco protector.9 Porque Dios no nos ha elegido para sufrir su castigo, sino que nos eligió para tener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.10 Jesús murió por nosotros para que vivamos junto con él. Así que no importa si estamos vivos o muertos cuando él regrese.

11 Por eso, anímense y fortalézcanse unos a otros, así como lo están haciendo ahora.

Instrucciones y saludos finales

12 Hermanos, les pedimos que respeten mucho a los que están trabajando entre ustedes, guiándolos y enseñándoles en el Señor.

13 Ténganles mucho respeto y amor debido al trabajo que ellos hacen entre ustedes.
Vivan en paz unos con otros.14 Les pedimos, hermanos, que reprendan a los que no trabajan, animen a los que tengan miedo, ayuden a los débiles y tengan paciencia con todos.

15 Asegúrense de que nadie pague mal por mal. Mejor, traten siempre de hacer el bien, tanto entre ustedes como a todos.
16 Estén siempre alegres.17 Nunca dejen de orar.

18 Den gracias a Dios siempre, porque eso es lo que él quiere para ustedes en Jesucristo.
19 No detengan la obra del Espíritu.20 No desprecien las profecías.21 Examinen todo y quédense con lo bueno.22 Manténganse alejados de todo lo malo.

23 Nosotros oramos para que Dios mismo, el Dios de paz, los purifique completamente para que pertenezcan sólo a él.
También pedimos para que todo su ser: su espíritu, su alma y su cuerpo permanezcan siempre sin mancha para cuando el Señor Jesucristo regrese.

24 Dios, que los ha llamado, lo hará por ustedes y pueden confiar en él.
25 Hermanos, oren también por nosotros.26 Cuando se reúnan, saluden a todos los hermanos con un beso santo.

27 Les ordeno por la autoridad del Señor que les lean esta carta a todos los hermanos.

28 Que nuestro Señor Jesucristo los bendiga en abundancia a todos ustedes.

1 Thessalonians 5

The Day of the Lord

1 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.3 While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and tsober.7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.8 But since we are of the day, let us be tsober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

Christian Conduct

12 But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction,13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another.14 We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.16 Rejoice always;17 pray without ceasing;18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.19 Do not quench the Spirit;20 do not despise prophetic tutterances.21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;22 abstain from every tform of evil.

23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

25 Brethren, pray for ust.

26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.27 I adjure you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
