Saludo
1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo, enviado por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador y de Cristo Jesús, nuestra esperanza,
2 a Timoteo, mi verdadero hijo en la fe.t Que Dios nuestro Padre y Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor derramen su gracia, su misericordia y su paz sobre ti.Contra las falsas doctrinas
3 Como ya te rogué al irme a la región de Macedonia, quédate en Éfeso,t para ordenar a ciertas personas que no enseñen ideas falsas
4 ni presten atención a cuentos y cuestiones interminables acerca de los antepasados.t Estas cosas solo sirven para discutirt y no ayudan a aceptar con fe el plan de Dios.
5 El propósito de esa orden es que nos amemos unos a otros con el amor que proviene de un corazón limpio, de una buena conciencia y de una fe sincera. 6 Algunos se han desviado de esto y se han perdido en inútiles discusiones.
7 Quieren ser maestros de la ley de Dios, cuando ni siquiera entienden lo que ellos mismos dicen ni lo que enseñan con tanta seguridad.t
8 Sabemos que la ley es buena,t si se usa de ella conforme al propósito que tiene. 9 Hay que recordar que ninguna ley está hecha para quienes practican el bien. La ley está hecha para castigar a los rebeldes y desobedientes, a los malvados y pecadores, a los que no respetan a Dios ni a la religión, a los que matan a su padre o a su madre, a todos los asesinos, 10 a los que cometen inmoralidades sexuales, a los homosexuales, a los traficantes de esclavos,t a los mentirosos y a los que juran en falso;t es decir, a los que hacen cosas que van en contra de la sana enseñanza.t
11 Y esta sana enseñanza es la que se encuentra en el glorioso evangelio que el Dios bienaventuradot me ha confiado.La misericordia de Dios con Pablo
12 Doy gracias a nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que me ha dado fuerzas, porque me ha considerado fiel y me ha puesto a su servicio. 13 Y eso que yo antes le ofendía con mis palabras, le perseguíat y le insultaba. Pero Dios tuvo misericordia de mí, porque yo todavía no era creyente y no sabía lo que hacía.
14 Y así nuestro Señor derramó abundantemente su gracia sobre mí, y me dio la fe y el amor que tenemos por nuestra unión con Cristo Jesús.
15 Esto es muy cierto y todos deben creerlo:t Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores,t de los cuales yo soy el primero.t 16 Por eso, Dios tuvo misericordia de mí, para que Jesucristo mostrara en mí el primero toda su paciencia. Así yo vine a ser ejemplo para aquellos que por creer en él obtendrán la vida eterna.
17 ¡Honor y gloria por siempre al Rey eterno, al inmortal, invisible y único Dios! Amén.t
18-19 Timoteo, hijo mío, te doy este encargo para que pelees la buena batallat con fe y buena conciencia, conforme a lo que antes dijeron los hermanos que hablaron de ti en nombre de Dios.t Algunos, por no haber hecho caso a su conciencia, han fracasado en su fe. 20 Esto les ha pasado a Himeneot y Alejandro,t a quienes he entregado a Satanást para que aprendan a no ofender a Dios con sus palabras.

Salutation
1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Saviors and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2 to Timothy, my genuine child in the faith. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
Timothy’s Task in Ephesus
3 As I urged you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesuss to instructt certain people not to spread false teachings,t4 nor to occupy themselves with myths and interminable genealogies.s Such things promote useless speculations rather than God’s redemptive plansts that operates by faith.5 But the aim of our instructiont is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.t6 Some have strayed from these and turned away to empty discussion.
7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or the things they insist on so confidently.t
8 But we know that the law is good if someone uses it legitimately,9 realizing that laws is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,10 sexually immoral people, practicing homosexuals,t kidnappers, liars, perjurers – in fact, for any who live contrary to sound teaching.
11 Thist accords with the glorious gospel of the blessed Godt that was entrusted to me.t
12 I am grateful to the one who has strengthened me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me faithful in putting me into ministry,13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor, and an arrogantt man. But I was treated with mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,14 and our Lord’s grace was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus.t15 This sayingt is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” – and I am the worst of them!t16 But here is why I was treated with mercy: so thatt in me as the worst,t Christ Jesus could demonstrate his utmost patience, as an example for those who are going to believe in him for eternal life.
17 Now to the eternal king,t immortal, invisible, the onlys God, be honor and glory forever and ever!t Amen.
18 I put this charges before you, Timothy my child, in keeping with the prophecies once spoken about you,s in order that with such encouragementt you may fight the good fight.19 To do thist you must hold firmly to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck in regard to the faith.
20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satans to be taught not to blaspheme.
