テモテヘの第一の手紙 2
二
1 さて、次のことを勧めます。 すべての人のために、神様のあわれみが注がれるよう熱心に祈り、とりなしなさい。 そして、やがて彼らにも恵みが与えられると信じて、感謝しなさい。
2 王のため、また権威と重い責任を負っているすべての人のために祈りなさい。 それは、主を敬い、主を深く思いながら、平安のうちに落ち着いた一生を過ごすためです。 3 そうすることはたいへん良いことで、救い主である神様に喜んでいただけることです。 4 神様はすべての人が救われて、真理を理解するに至ることを、切に望んでおられるからです。 5-6 その真理とは、こうです。 神と人間とは、それぞれ別の岸に立っています。 そして、人となられたキリスト・イエスがその間に立ち、ご自分のいのちを、全人類のために差し出すことによって、両者の橋渡しをされたのです。
これこそ、神様が時にかなって私たちに示された教えにほかなりません。 7 この真理を外国人に教え、救いは信仰によって与えられるという、神様の計画を伝えるために、私は宣教者また使徒として選ばれました。 これは、うそ偽りのない真実です。 8 そこで勧めます。 男は、罪を犯したり、怒ったり、恨みをいだいたりせずに、どこででも、きよい手を上げて祈りなさい。 9-10 同じように、女も、控え目な服装や態度で、品位を保つように心がけなさい。 クリスチャンの女性は、はでなヘアスタイルや宝石や高価な着物によって人の注意を引こうとはせず、良い行ないとやさしく親切なふるまいによって身を飾りなさい。 11 女は、物静かに、謙そんな心で教えを聞き、また学ぶべきです。
12 女が男にものを教えたり、権力をふるったりするようなことが、決してあってはなりません。 女は、教会の集会では黙っていなさい。 13 なぜなら、神様は最初にアダムを、そのあとでエバをお造りになったからです。 14 アダムは悪魔にだまされませんでしたが、エバはだまされ、罪を犯してしまいました。 15 そこで神様は、女に子を産む時の苦しみをお与えになったのです。 しかし、もし女が神様を信じ、控え目な態度で愛にあふれた生活を送るなら、そのたましいは救われます。
1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;2 for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;4 who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.5 For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus,6 who gave himself a ransom for all; the testimony to be borne in its own times;7 whereunto I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.8 I desire therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and disputing.9 In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment;10 but (which becometh women professing godliness) through good works.11 Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection.12 But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness.13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve;14 and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression:15 but she shall be saved through her child-bearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
