Warnung vor falsch verstandener Frömmigkeit

1 tGottes Geist sagt uns ausdrücklich, dass sich in Zukunft manche von Gott abwenden werden, weil sie falschen Propheten hinterherlaufen und teuflischen Lehren glauben.2 Diese Verführer sind durch und durch verlogen, ihr Gewissen haben sie zum Schweigen gebrachtt.3 tSie verbieten, zu heiraten oder bestimmte Speisen zu essen. Dabei hat Gott doch alles geschaffen, damit jeder, der an ihn glaubt und seine Wahrheit erkannt hat, auch diese Dinge dankbar von ihm annimmt.4 Denn alles, was Gott geschaffen hat, ist gut; und nichts ist schlecht, für das wir Gott danken.5 Durch das Wort Gottes und das Gebet wird alles rein; nichts kann uns da von Gott trennen.

Ratschläge für den Dienst

6 tWenn du, lieber Timotheus, der Gemeinde das alles so weitergibst, bist du ein guter Diener Jesu Christi. Du lebst nach der Botschaft des Glaubens und richtest dich nach der wahren Lehre, zu der du dich schon immer bekannt hast.7 tGib dich nicht mit dem gottlosen Geschwätz dieser falschen Prediger ab, sondern diene Gott mit ganzer Kraft.8 tWie ein Asket zu leben ist ganz gut und schön, aber auf Gott zu hören ist besser. Denn damit werden wir dieses und das zukünftige Leben gewinnen.9 Das steht unumstößlich fest, darauf dürfen wir vertrauen.10 Für nichts anderes arbeiten und kämpfen wir. Auf den lebendigen Gott haben wir unsere Hoffnung gesetzt. Er ist der Retter aller Menschen, besonders derjenigen, die an ihn glauben.11 Das alles sollst du die Gemeinde lehren.

12 tNiemand hat ein Recht, auf dich herabzusehen, weil du noch so jung bist. Allerdings musst du in jeder Beziehung ein Vorbild sein: in allem, was du sagst und tust, in der Liebe, im Glauben und in Selbstbeherrschung.13 Solange ich nicht wieder bei euch bin, lies du in der Gemeinde aus der Heiligen Schrift vor, ermutige die Christen und unterweise sie im Glauben.14 tSetz die Gabe ein, die Gott dir schenkte. Er hat dich ja durch eine Prophetie für diese Aufgabe bestimmt, und die Leiter der Gemeinde haben dir die Hände aufgelegt und dich gesegnet.15 Gebrauch deine Gabe und übe dich darin, dann wird jeder erkennen, wie du Fortschritte machst.

16 tAchte auf dich selbst; sieh zu, dass du die Lehre von Jesus Christus rein und unverfälscht weitergibst. Lass dich auf keinen Fall davon abbringen. Dann wirst du selbst gerettet und alle, die auf dich hören.

1 Timothy 4

1 But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,2 through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:5 for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.6 If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now:7 but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:8 for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.9 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.10 For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.11 These things command and teach.12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.15 Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.16 Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.
