テモテヘの第一の手紙 4

四

1 しかし、聖霊様がはっきりと予告されたように、終末の時代には、教会の中からも、キリスト様から離れ、悪霊の教えを広める教師の熱心な弟子になる者が現われます。　2 そのような教師は、平気でうそをつき、しかもそれを何度もくり返すので、良心が完全に麻痺しています。　3 彼らは、結婚や肉を食べることを禁じたりします。　しかし、神様はそれらを、よく訓練されたクリスチャンが喜び楽しむようにと、備えてくださったのです。　4 神様がお造りになったものはみな良い物で、感謝して受ければ、何一つ捨てる必要はありません。　5 それらは、神様に祝福を求める祈りと、神様のことばとによって、きよめられるからです。
6 このことを、ほかの人たちに、はっきり教えなさい。　そうすれば、あなたは牧師の義務をりっぱに果たしたことになるのです。　牧師は、自らの信仰と、従ってきた真理の教えとによって成長するのです。
7 ばかばかしい理論や、くだらない作り話を、あれこれ議論し、むだに時間を費やしてはなりません。　むしろ、時間と労力とを有効に使って、いつも霊的に高められるよう、自分を訓練しなさい。　8 体の訓練も大いにけっこうですが、霊の訓練はさらに大切であり、あらゆる行動の原動力になるのです。　ですから、あなたは霊の訓練に励み、もっとすぐれたクリスチャンを目指しなさい。　そうすることは、今の地上の生活のためだけでなく、未来の生活にも役立つからです。　9 これは、万人に共通の真理です。　10 私たちは、これを人々が信じるようにと、多くの苦しみに会いながらも一心に励んできました。　それは私たちが、生ける神に希望を託しているからです。　神様はすべての人のために、特にその救いを受け入れた人たちのために死に、復活されたお方なのです。
11 これらのことを、どんな人でも十分理解できるように教えなさい。　12 年が若いからといって、軽く見られてはいけません。　かえって人々の模範になりなさい。　あなたが、ことばと実践によって教えていることを、人々にも実行させなさい。　愛、信仰、きよらかな思いの、良い模範を示しなさい。　13 私がそちらに行くまで、教会で聖書を朗読し、その内容を教え、神様のことばを伝えなさい。
14 かつて教会の長老たちがあなたの頭に手を置いて祈ってくれた時、神様が預言を通して与えてくださった特別な能力を大切にしなさい。　15 その能力を十分に活用して、今の仕事に全身全霊、打ち込みなさい。　そうすれば、だれの目にも、あなたの進歩と向上が明らかになるでしょう。　16 自分の思想と行動全般に、いつも気を配っていなさい。　正しいことには、あくまでも忠実でありなさい。　そうすれば、神様はあなたを祝福し、他の人たちを助けるのに役立つ者としてくださいます。

1 Timothy 4

1 But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,2 through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:5 for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.6 If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now:7 but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:8 for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.9 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.10 For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.11 These things command and teach.12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.15 Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.16 Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.
