رهنمودهایی برای تیموتائوس

1 امّا روح، آشکارا می‌گوید که در زمانهای آخر، برخی از ایمان رویگردان شده، از ارواح گمراه‌کننده و تعالیم دیوها پیروی خواهند کرد.2 این تعالیم را دروغگویان و ریاکارانی می‌آورند که وجدانشان بی‌حس شده است.3 ایشان ازدواج را منع می‌کنند و به پرهیز از خوراکهایی فرمان می‌دهند که خدا آفریده تا مؤمنان که از حقیقت آگاهند، با شکرگزاری از آن بهره‌مند شوند.4 زیرا هر آنچه خدا آفریده است، نیکوست و هیچ چیز را نباید رد کرد، هر گاه با شکرگزاری پذیرفته شود،5 چرا که به‌وسیلۀ کلام خدا و دعا تقدیس می‌گردد.6 اگر این امور را به برادران گوشزد کنی، خادم نیکوی مسیحْ عیسی خواهی بود، پرورش یافته در کلامِ ایمانt و تعلیمی نیکو که پیروی آن کرده‌ای.7 تو را با افسانه‌های کفرآمیز و حکایتهای پیرزنان کاری نباشد، بلکه خود را در دینداری تربیت کن.8 زیرا گرچه تربیت بدن را اندک فایده‌ای است، امّا دینداری برای همه چیز فایده دارد، و هم زندگی حال را وعده می‌دهد، هم حیات آینده را.9 این سخنی است درخور اعتماد و پذیرش کامل10 که ما امید خویش را بر خدای زنده نهاده‌ایم که نجات‌دهندۀ جملۀ آدمیان، بخصوص مؤمنان است؛ و برای همین نیز زحمت می‌کشیم و جدّ و جهد می‌کنیم.11 این چیزها را حکم فرما و تعلیم ده.12 مگذار هیچ‌کس تو را به‌سبب جوانی حقیر شمارد، بلکه در گفتار و کردار و محبت و ایمان و پاکی، همۀ مؤمنان را سرمشق باش.13 تا آمدنم، به قرائت کلام خدا و اندرز و تعلیم مشغول باش.14 به آن عطایی که در توست بی‌اعتنایی مکن، عطایی که به‌واسطۀ نبوّت یافتی، آنگاه که هیئت مشایخ بر تو دست گذاشتند.15 در این امور بکوش و خود را به تمامی وقف آن کن تا پیشرفت تو بر همه آشکار شود.16 به‌دقّت، مراقب شیوۀ زندگی و تعلیم خود باش. در آنها پایداری کن، که اگر چنین کنی خویشتن و شنوندگانت را نجات خواهی داد.

People Will Turn from //Their Faith

1 God's Spirit clearly says that in the last days many people will turn from their faith. They will be fooled by evil spirits and by teachings that come from demons. 2 They will also be fooled by the false claims of liars whose consciences have lost all feeling. These liars 3 will forbid people to marry or to eat certain foods. But God created these foods to be eaten with thankful hearts by his followers who know the truth. 4 Everything God created is good. And if you give thanks, you may eat anything.

5 What God has said and your prayer will make it fit to eat.

Paul's Advice to Timothy

8-9 As the saying goes,
“Exercise is good
for your body,
but religion helps you
in every way.
It promises life
now and forever.”
These words are worthwhile and should not be forgotten.

10 We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of everyone, but especially of those who have faith. This is why we work and struggle so hard.t
11 Teach these things and tell everyone to do what you say.

12 Don't let anyone make fun of you, just because you are young. Set an example for other followers by what you say and do, as well as by your love, faith, and purity.
13 Until I arrive, be sure to keep on reading the Scriptures in worship, and don't stop preaching and teaching. 14 Use the gift you were given when the prophets spoke and the group of church leaderst blessed you by placing their hands on you. 15 Remember these things and think about them, so everyone can see how well you are doing. 16 Be careful about the way you live and about what you teach. Keep on doing this, and you will save not only yourself, but the people who hear you.
