Las falsas enseñanzas

1 El Espíritu Santo ha dicho claramente que, en los últimos tiempos, algunas personas dejarán de confiar en Dios. Serán engañadas por espíritus mentirosos y obedecerán enseñanzas de demonios.2 Le harán caso a gente hipócrita y mentirosa, incapaz de sentir vergüenza de nada.3 Esa gente prohíbe casarse y comer ciertos alimentos. Pero Dios creó todos los alimentos para que nosotros los comamos y le demos las gracias por ellos. Los creó para todos los que confiamos en él y conocemos la verdad.4 Porque todo lo que Dios ha creado es bueno, y podemos comer de todo sin rechazar nada, si le damos las gracias.

5 Por tanto, podemos comerlos porque Dios así lo ha dicho, y porque nosotros hemos orado por esos alimentos.

Instrucciones para Timoteo

6 Si enseñas la verdad a los miembros de la iglesia, serás un buen servidor de Jesucristo. Estudiar y obedecer las enseñanzas cristianas, como tú lo haces, es lo mismo que alimentarse bien.7 No prestes atención a historias falsas, que la gente inventa. Más bien, esfuérzate por ser un buen discípulo de Jesucristo.8-9 Es verdad que el ejercicio físico ayuda a que todo el cuerpo esté sano, pero es mucho mejor esforzarse por confiar cada vez más en Dios, porque nos hace bien aquí en la tierra y también nos servirá cuando vivamos en el cielo. Esto es una verdad que podemos creer, y debemos creer.

10 Por eso nos esforzamos tanto, pues confiamos firmemente en Dios. Él vive para siempre y es el Salvador de todos, especialmente de los que confían en él.
11 Enseña estas cosas, y diles a todos que las obedezcan.

12 No permitas que nadie te desprecie por ser joven. Al contrario, trata de ser un ejemplo para los demás cristianos. Que cuando todos oigan tu modo de hablar, y vean cómo vives, traten de ser puros como tú. Que todos imiten tu carácter amoroso y tu confianza en Dios.
13 Mientras llego a visitarte, sigue leyéndoles la Biblia a los miembros de la iglesia, y no dejes de animarlos ni de enseñarles.14 No dejes de usar las capacidades especiales que Dios te dio cuando los líderes de la iglesia pusieron sus manos sobre tu cabeza. El Espíritu Santo habló con ellos y les ordenó hacerlo.

15 Haz todo eso y dedica tiempo para ello, para que todos vean que cada día eres mejor.

16 Timoteo, compórtate como es debido, y ten cuidado de lo que enseñas. Sigue haciendo esto, y no sólo te salvarás a ti mismo, sino que también salvarás a los que te escuchen.

1 Timothy 4

1 But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,2 through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:5 for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.6 If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now:7 but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:8 for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.9 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.10 For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.11 These things command and teach.12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.15 Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.16 Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.
