1 TIMOTEO 6
1 Los que están sometidos a esclavitudt deben considerar a sus amos como dignos de todo respeto, para que no se hable mal del nombre de Dios ni de nuestra enseñanza.
2 Y aquellos que tengan amos creyentes, que no dejen de respetarlos por ser sus hermanos en la fe. Al contrario, deben servirles todavía mejor, puesto que quienes reciben sus buenos servicios son creyentes y hermanos amados.tLa verdadera riqueza
Enseña y predica estas cosas. 3 Si alguien enseña ideas extrañas y no está de acuerdo con la sana enseñanzat de nuestro Señor Jesucristo ni con las normas de nuestra fe, 4 es un orgulloso que no sabe nada. Discutirt sobre cuestiones de palabras es en él como una enfermedad; de ahí vienen envidias, discordias, insultos, desconfianzas 5 y peleas sin fin entre gente que tiene la mente pervertida, que no conoce la verdadt y que toma nuestra fe por una fuente de riqueza. 6 Y claro está que nuestra fe es una fuente de gran riqueza,t pero solo para el que se contenta con lo que tiene.t 7 Porque nada trajimos a este mundo y nada podremos llevarnos;t 8 si tenemos qué comer y con qué vestirnos, démonos por satisfechos.t 9 En cambio, los que quieren hacerse ricos no resisten la prueba, y caen en la trampa de muchos deseos insensatos y perjudiciales que hunden a los hombres en la ruina y la condenación.t
10 Porque el amor al dinero es raíz de toda clase de males,t y hay quienes, por codicia, se han desviado de la fe y han llenado de sufrimiento su propia vida.Exhortación a Timoteo
11 Pero tú, hombre de Dios,t huye de todo eso. Lleva una vida de rectitud, de devoción a Dios, de fe, de amor, de constancia y de humildad de corazón. 12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe: no dejes escapar la vida eterna, pues para eso te llamó Dios y por eso hiciste una buena profesión de tu fe delante de muchos testigos. 13 Ahora, delante de Dios, que da vida a todo lo que existe, y delante de Cristo Jesús, que hizo una buena profesión y dio testimonio ante Poncio Pilato,t te mando 14 que obedezcas lo que te ordeno:t mantén una conducta pura e irreprensible hasta la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. 15 A su debido tiempo, Dios llevará esto a cabo, porque él es el único y bienaventuradot Soberano, Rey de reyes y Señor de señores.t
16 Es el único inmortal, que vive en una luz a la que nadie puede acercarse.t Ningún hombre lo ha visto ni lo puede ver.t ¡Suyos sean para siempre el honor y el poder! Amén.
17 A los ricos de este mundo mándales que no sean orgullosos ni pongan su esperanza en sus riquezas,t porque las riquezas no son seguras. Antes bien, que pongan su esperanza en Dios, que nos da todas las cosas abundantementet y para nuestro provecho. 18 Mándales que hagan el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras y que estén dispuestos a dar y compartir lo que poseen.
19 Así tendrán riquezas que les proporcionarán un firme fundamento para el futuro, y alcanzarán la vida verdadera.Despedida
20 Timoteo, cuida bien lo que te he confiado.t No escuches palabrerías mundanas y vacías,t ni los argumentos que opone esa mal llamada ciencia,t
21 que a algunos, por profesarla, ha desviado de la fe.t
Que el Señor derrame su gracia sobre vosotros.
1 Timothy 6
1 Those who are under the yoke as slavest must regard their own masters as deserving of full respect. This will preventt the name of God and Christian teachingt from being discredited.t
2 But those who have believing masters must not show them less respectt because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved.t
Teach them and exhort them about these things.t
Summary of Timothy’s Duties
3 If someone spreads false teachingst and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,4 he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions,5 and constant bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godlinesss is a way of making a profit.6 Now godliness combined with contentment brings great profit.7 For we have brought nothing into this world and sos we cannot take a single thing out either.8 But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that.t9 Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is the roott of all evils.t Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains.
11 But you, as a person dedicated to God,t keep away from all that.t Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.12 Compete wellt for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confessions fort in the presence of many witnesses.13 I charge youst before God who gives life to all things and Christ Jesus who made his good confessionts before Pontius Pilate,14 to obeyt this commandts without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ15 – whose appearingt the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the right time.
16 He alone possesses immortality and lives in unapproachable light, whom no human has ever seen or is able to see. To him be honor and eternal power! Amen.
17 Command those who are rich in this world’s goodst not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain,t but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.18 Tell them to do good,t to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others.t
19 In this way they will save upt a treasure for themselves as a firm foundationt for the future and so lay hold oft what is truly life.
Conclusion
20 O Timothy, protect what has been entrusted to you. Avoidt the profane chatter and absurditiest of so-called “knowledge.”t
21 By professing it, some have strayed from the faith.t Grace be with you all.st
