テモテヘの第一の手紙 6

六

1 クリスチャンである奴隷は、主人を心から尊敬して、一生懸命働きなさい。　キリスト様に従う者となりながら、怠け者だと非難されてはなりません。　そんなことで、神様の名と教えとが笑いものにされてはたまりませんから。　2 主人が、たまたまクリスチャンの場合でも、それをいいことに気をゆるめたりせず、むしろ、いっそう熱心に働きなさい。　その結果、益を受けるのは、信仰を同じくする、あなたの兄弟なのですから。
テモテよ。　すべての人にこれらの真理をよく教え、心から従うように勧めなさい。　3 中には、これらを無視する人がいるかもしれません。　しかしこれは、主イエス・キリストの健全な教えであり、神様を敬う生活の、基礎となるものです。　4 違った教えを広める人がいれば、それは高慢のなせるわざであり、自分の無知をさらけ出す行為だとみなしなさい。　つまり、キリスト様のことばをいい加減に解釈し、ねたみや怒りにかられて議論を果てしなく続け、その結果、悪口や非難、不信感のとりこになるのです。　5 こうして議論に明け暮れ、心が罪にゆがんでいる人は、真理をどう表現すればよいのか知りません。　彼らにとって、真理とは、金もうけの手段にすぎないのです。　そんな人から遠ざかりなさい。
6 ほんとうの金持ちになりたいと思いますか。　もし今、幸福で、心が満ち足りているなら、あなたはすでに金持ちなのです。　7 私たちは、一円たりとも身につけてこの世に生まれたわけではありません。　また、この世を去る時にも、一円も持って行けません。　8 ですから、食べる物と着る物があれば、満足すべきです。　9 しかし、金持ちになりたがる人は、もうけ話には見境がなく、すぐ悪に走ってしまいます。　その結果、ひどい目に会い、心を汚し、ついには、地獄へ送り込まれることになります。　10 お金を愛することは、あらゆる悪の根源です。　中にはお金を愛するあまり、信仰を捨て、神様から離れてしまった人もいます。　おかげで、そんな人はわが身を刺し通す、激しい悲しみに襲われるのです。
11 テモテよ。　あなたは神に仕える者です。　ですから、これらすべての悪から逃れて、正しく良いことを熱心に励みなさい。　神様を信頼し、人を愛し、忍耐強く、ものやわらかな態度を身につけ、　12 神様のために戦い続けなさい。　神様から与えられた、永遠のいのちをしっかり握っていなさい。　あなたは、この永遠のいのちについて、多くの証人の前で、堂々と告白したのです。
13 私は、すべてのいのちの創造者である神様と、ポンテオ・ピラトの前での大胆な証人キリスト・イエスとの前で、あなたに命じます。　14 主イエス・キリストが再び来られる時まで、主が命じられたことをすべて成し遂げ、だれからも非難されるところのない者になりなさい。　15 その時が来ると、キリスト様は、祝福に満ちた、ただ一人の力ある神から遣わされて、天から姿を現わします。　この力ある神は、王の王、主の主として、　16 死ぬことのない、ただ一人の方であり、だれも近づけない、まばゆい光の中に住んでおられます。　普通の人は、だれ一人、神様を見たことがありませんし、これからも、決して見ることはできません。　どうか、このまことの神様に、誉れと、永遠の権威と支配とが、世々かぎりなくありますように。　アーメン。
17 金持ちには、高慢にならないように、そして、すぐになくなるお金に望みをかけないように教えなさい。　また、必要なものをいっさい備えて、私たちの人生を楽しませてくださる生ける神様を誇りとし、この方だけを信頼するように忠告しなさい。　18 また、お金の生きた使い道を教えてやりなさい。　自分の持ち物はすべて神様からいただいた物だとわきまえて、困っている人には喜んで分けてやるように心がけなさい。　そうすれば、神様の前でたくさんの善行をほどこす者となり、　19 自分のために、ほんとうの宝を天に積むことになるのです。　これこそ、未来に備える、ただ一つの絶対に安全な投資です。　また、そうする人は、この地上でも、実りあるクリスチャン生活を送れるのです。
20 テモテよ。　神様から託された任務を完全に果たしなさい。　知識を鼻にかけ、かえって無知をさらけ出しているような人と、くだらない議論にふけらないよう、気をつけなさい。　21 彼らの中には、人生で最も大切なものを見失った者、すなわち神様を知らない者がいるのです。
どうか、神様のあわれみが、あなたがたにありますように。

1 Timothy 6

1 Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.3 If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,5 wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.6 But godliness with contentment is great gain:7 for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out;8 but having food and covering we shall be therewith content.9 But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.12 Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.13 I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession;14 that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:15 which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;16 who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.17 Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.20 O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;21 which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
