1 Timoteo 6

1  Todos los esclavos deberían tener sumo respeto por sus amos para no avergonzar el nombre de Dios y su enseñanza.

2 El hecho de que tengan amos creyentes no es excusa para ser irrespetuosos. Al contrario, esos esclavos deberían servir a sus amos con mucho más esmero, porque ese esfuerzo beneficia a otros muy amados creyentes.t

La falsa enseñanza y la verdadera riqueza

Timoteo, enseña estas cosas y anima a todos a que las obedezcan. 3 Puede ser que algunas personas nos contradigan, pero lo que enseñamos es la sana enseñanza de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, la cual conduce a una vida de sumisión a Dios. 4 Cualquiera que enseñe algo diferente es arrogante y le falta entendimiento. Tal persona tiene el deseo enfermizo de cuestionar el significado de cada palabra. Esto provoca discusiones que terminan en celos, divisiones, calumnias y malas sospechas. 5 Individuos como éstos siempre causan problemas. Tienen la mente corrompida y le han dado la espalda a la verdad. Para ellos, mostrar sumisión a Dios es sólo un medio para enriquecerse.

6 Ahora bien, la verdadera sumisión a Dios es una gran riqueza en sí misma cuando uno está contento con lo que tiene. 7 Después de todo, no trajimos nada cuando vinimos a este mundo ni tampoco podremos llevarnos nada cuando lo dejemos. 8 Así que, si tenemos suficiente alimento y ropa, estemos contentos.

9 Pero los que viven con la ambición de hacerse ricos caen en tentación y quedan atrapados por muchos deseos necios y dañinos que los hunden en la ruina y la destrucción. 10 Pues el amor al dinero es la raíz de toda clase de mal; y algunas personas, en su intenso deseo por el dinero, se han desviado de la fe verdadera y se han causado muchas heridas dolorosas.

Instrucciones finales de Pablo

11 Pero tú, Timoteo, eres un hombre de Dios; así que huye de todas esas maldades. Persigue la justicia y la vida sujeta a Dios, junto con la fe, el amor, la perseverancia y la amabilidad. 12 Pelea la buena batalla por la fe verdadera. Aférrate a la vida eterna a la que Dios te llamó y que confesaste tan bien delante de muchos testigos. 13 Te encargo delante de Dios, quien da vida a todos, y delante de Cristo Jesús, quien dio un buen testimonio frente a Poncio Pilato, 14 que obedezcas este mandamiento sin vacilar. Entonces nadie podrá encontrar ninguna falta en ti desde ahora y hasta que nuestro Señor Jesucristo regrese. 15 Pues, en el momento preciso, Cristo será revelado desde el cielo por el bendito y único Dios todopoderoso, el Rey de todos los reyes y el Señor de todos los señores. 16 Él es el único que nunca muere y vive en medio de una luz tan brillante que ningún ser humano puede acercarse a él. Ningún ojo humano jamás lo ha visto y nunca lo hará. ¡Que a él sea todo el honor y el poder para siempre! Amén.

17 Enséñales a los ricos de este mundo que no sean orgullosos ni que confíen en su dinero, el cual es tan inestable. Deberían depositar su confianza en Dios, quien nos da en abundancia todo lo que necesitamos para que lo disfrutemos. 18 Diles que usen su dinero para hacer el bien. Deberían ser ricos en buenas acciones, generosos con los que pasan necesidad y estar siempre dispuestos a compartir con otros. 19 De esa manera, al hacer esto, acumularán su tesoro como un buen fundamento para el futuro, a fin de poder experimentar lo que es la vida verdadera.

20 Timoteo, cuida bien lo que Dios te ha confiado. Evita las discusiones mundanas y necias con los que se oponen a ti, con su así llamado «conocimiento».

21 Algunos se han desviado de la fe por seguir semejantes tonterías.
Que la gracia de Dios sea con todos ustedes.

1 TIMOTHY 6

1 If you are a slave, you should respect and honor your owner. This will keep people from saying bad things about God and about our teaching.

2 If any of you slaves have owners who are followers, you should show them respect. After all, they are also followers of Christ, and he loves them. So you should serve and help them the best you can.

False Teaching and //True Wealth

These are the things you must teach and tell the people to do. 3 Anyone who teaches something different disagrees with the correct and godly teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 Those people who disagree are proud of themselves, but they don't really know a thing. Their minds are sick, and they like to argue over words. They cause jealousy, disagreements, unkind words, evil suspicions,

5 and nasty quarrels. They have wicked minds and have missed out on the truth.
These people think religion is supposed to make you rich. 6 And religion does make your life rich, by making you content with what you have. 7 We didn't bring anything into this world, and we won'tt take anything with us when we leave. 8 So we should be satisfied just to have food and clothes. 9 People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them.

10 The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.

Fighting a Good Fight //for the Faith

11 Timothy, you belong to God, so keep away from all these evil things. Try your best to please God and to be like him. Be faithful, loving, dependable, and gentle. 12 Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened. 13 t Now I ask you to make a promise. Make it in the presence of God, who gives life to all, and in the presence of Christ Jesus, who openly told Pontius Pilate about his faith.

14 Promise to obey completely and fully all that you have been told until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

15  t The glorious God
is the only Ruler,
the King of kings
and Lord of lords.
At the time that God
has already decided,
he will send Jesus Christ
back again.

16  t Only God lives forever!
And he lives in light
that no one can come near.
No human has ever seen God
or ever can see him.
God will be honored,
and his power
will last forever. Amen.
17 Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life. 18 Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what they have.

19 This will lay a solid foundation for the future, so they will know what true life is like.
20 Timothy, guard what God has placed in your care! Don't pay any attention to godless and stupid talk that sounds smart but really isn't.

21 Some people have even lost their faith by believing this talk.
