2. Chronik 19
1 Josaphat aber, der König Juda's, kam wieder heim mit Frieden gen Jerusalem. 2 Und es gingen ihm entgegen hinaus Jehu, der Sohn Hananis, der Seher, und sprach zum König Josaphat: Sollst du so dem Gottlosen helfen, und lieben, die den HERRN hassen? Und um deswillen ist über dir der Zorn vom HERRN. 3 Aber doch ist etwas Gutes an dir gefunden, daß du die Ascherabilder hast ausgefegt aus dem Lande und hast dein Herz gerichtet, Gott zu suchen. 4 Also blieb Josaphat zu Jerusalem. Und er zog wiederum aus unter das Volk von Beer-Seba an bis auf das Gebirge Ephraim und brachte sie wieder zu dem HERRN, ihrer Väter Gott.
5 Und er bestellte Richter im Lande in allen festen Städten Juda's, in einer jeglichen Stadt etliche, 6 Und sprach zu den Richtern: Sehet zu, was ihr tut! denn ihr haltet das Gericht nicht den Menschen, sondern dem HERRN; und er ist mit euch im Gericht. 7 Darum laßt die Furcht des HERRN bei euch sein und hütet euch und tut's; denn bei dem HERRN, unserm Gott, ist kein Unrecht noch Ansehen der Person noch Annehmen des Geschenks.
8 Auch bestellte Josaphat zu Jerusalem etliche aus den Leviten und Priestern und aus den Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel über das Gericht des HERRN und über die Streitsachen und ließ sie zu Jerusalem wohnen, 9 und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Tut also in der Furcht des HERRN, treulich und mit rechtem Herzen. 10 In allen Sachen, die zu euch kommen von euren Brüdern, die in ihren Städten wohnen, zwischen Blut und Blut, zwischen Gesetz und Gebot, zwischen Sitten und Rechten, sollt ihr sie unterrichten, daß sie sich nicht verschulden am HERRN und ein Zorn über euch und eure Brüder komme. Tut also, so werdet ihr euch nicht verschulden. 11 Siehe, Amarja, der oberste Priester, ist über euch in allen Sachen des HERRN, und Sebadja, der Sohn Ismaels, der Fürst im Hause Juda's, in allen Sachen des Königs, und als Amtleute habt ihr die Leviten vor euch. Seid getrost und tut's, und der HERR wird mit dem Guten sein.
2 Chronicles 19
1 When King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned home safely to Jerusalem,s2 the prophett Jehu son of Hanani confronted him;t he said to King Jehoshaphat, “Is it right to help the wicked and be an ally of those who oppose the Lord?t Because you have done this the Lord is angry with you!t
3 Nevertheless you have done some good things;t you removedt the Asherah poles from the land and you were determined to follow the Lord.”t
Jehoshaphat Appoints Judges
4 Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem.s He went out among the people from Beer Sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and encouraged them to followt the Lord God of their ancestors.t5 He appointed judges throughout the land and in each of the fortified cities of Judah.t6 He told the judges, “Be careful what you do,t for you are not judging for men, but for the Lord, who will be with you when you make judicial decisions.
7 Respect the Lord and make careful decisions, for the Lord our God disapproves of injustice, partiality, and bribery.”t
8 In Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites, priests, and Israelite family leaders to judge on behalf of the Lordt and to settle disputes among the residents of Jerusalem.s9 He commanded them: “Carry out your duties with respect for the Lord, with honesty, and with pure motives.t10 Whenever your countrymen who live in the cities bring a case before yout (whether it involves a violent crimet or other matters related to the law, commandments, rules, and regulations), warn them that they must not sin against the Lord. If you fail to do so, God will be angry with you and your colleagues; but if you obey, you will be free of guilt.t
11 You will report to Amariah the chief priest in all matters pertaining to the Lord’s law, and to Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the family of Judah, in all matters pertaining to the king.t The Levites will serve as officials before you. Confidently carry out your duties!t May the Lord be with those who do well!”
