2 Korinthierbrevet 1

Hälsning

1 Till Guds församling i Korinth, och till alla de troende runt om i provinsen Achaia.

2 Jag ber att Gud, vår Far, och Herren Jesus Kristus ska visa er godhet och fylla er med frid.

Gud tröstar och uppmuntrar

3 Låt oss hylla Gud, han som är Far till vår Herre Jesus Kristus. Allt medlidande och all uppmuntran har ju sitt ursprung i Gud.4 Han tröstar och uppmuntrar oss i alla våra svårigheter, så att vi själva kan ge vidare av hans tröst och uppmuntran till andra som har det svårt.5 Ja, ju mer vi får lida för Kristus skull, desto mer tröst och uppmuntran får vi genom vår gemenskap med Kristus.6 När jag och mina medarbetare möter svårigheter är det alltså för ert bästa, så att ni ska bli räddade för evigt. Genom den tröst och uppmuntran vi själva får när vi har det svårt, kan vi ju stödja och uppmuntra er, så att ni inte överger er tro när ni får gå igenom samma lidanden.

7 Och vi är säkra på att ni verkligen ska hålla fast vid er tro, eftersom Gud tröstar och uppmuntrar er när ni får lida, precis som han gör med oss.
8 Jag vill att ni ska veta, kära syskont, vilka enorma svårigheter jag fick gå igenom i provinsen Asient. Jag var så illa ute att jag inte hade några krafter kvar och faktiskt trodde att min sista stund var kommen.9 Ja, det kändes som om jag redan hade fått min dödsdom. Men genom detta skulle jag lära mig att inte lita på min egen kraft, utan bara på Gud, han som kan uppväcka döda.10 Och Gud räddade mig verkligen ur denna dödsfara, och han ska göra det igen eftersom jag litar på honom.

11 Men kom ihåg att hjälpa mig genom att be för mig, så att vi alla sedan kan tacka Gud för att han svarade på våra böner och räddade mig.

Paulus ändrade resplaner

12 Jag är stolt över att ärligt kunna säga att jag alltid har handlat rätt mot er, precis som jag med Guds hjälp försöker handla rätt mot alla människor. Jag har inte styrts av mänsklig vishet och har inte dolt något, utan har alltid varit uppriktig och följt Guds vilja.

13-14 Mina brev har varit öppna och rakt på sak. Det finns inga dolda budskap, utan allt är skrivet så att ni enkelt ska kunna förstå. Jag hoppas också att ni snart helt och fullt ska förstå det som ni redan delvis har förstått, att när vår Herre Jesus kommer tillbaka, då kan ni vara lika stolta över mig som jag är över er.

15-16 Och eftersom jag var säker på att ni verkligen har förtroende för mig, hade jag tänkt glädja er, med inte bara ett, utan två besök. Jag hade tänkt besöka er först på min väg till Makedonien, och sedan på vägen hem igen. Då skulle ni ha fått hjälpa mig med det jag behöver för min resa till Judeen.
17 Men nu blev det alltså inte så, och ni tycker kanske att jag ändrade mina planer lite väl lättvindigt. Jag kanske säger en sak och menar en annan? Ett ja från mig kanske betyder ett nej?18 Absolut inte! Gud, som själv håller sina löften, kan intyga att jag alltid står för vad jag säger.19 Jesus Kristus, Guds Son, som jag och Silvanus och Timotheos har undervisat er om, sa ju heller aldrig ja till något utan att sedan stå för sitt ord. Genom Jesus har också Gud sagt sitt ja till människorna,20 för allt det som Gud har lovat blir uppfyllt genom Jesus. Därför har också vi som nu tillhör Gud sagt vårt ja till honom och lever för att ära honom.21 Det är ju han som har utrustat oss med sin Ande, och som hjälper både er och mig att hålla fast vid vår tro på Kristus.22 Anden som bor i vårt inre är ett tecken på att vi tillhör Gud, och garantin för att han en dag ska infria sitt löfte och rädda oss för evigt.23 Gud själv kan intyga att det jag nu säger är sant: det enda skälet till att jag inte besökte er som jag tidigare tänkt, var att jag inte ville komma för att skälla på er.

24 Men se inte mig och mina medarbetare som några som vill styra över hur ni ska tro. Nej, vi vill bara hjälpa er att vara glada över den tro på Jesus ni redan har. Det är ju den som gör er starka.

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth,s with all the saints who are in all Achaia.t

2 Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanksgiving for God’s Comfort

3 Blessed ist the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,4 who comforts us in all our troublest so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any troublet with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.5 For just as the sufferingst of Christt overflowt toward us, so also our comfort through Christ overflows to you.t6 But if we are afflicted,t it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort that you experience in your patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.7 And our hope for you is steadfast because we know that as you share int our sufferings, so also you will share int our comfort.8 For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters,t regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of Asia,t that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living.9 Indeed we felt as if the sentence of death had been passed against us,t so that we would not trust in ourselvest but in God who raises the dead.10 Het delivered us from so great a risk of death, and he will deliver us. We have set our hope on himt thats he will deliver us yet again,

11 as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that many people may give thanks to Godt on our behalf for the gracious gift given to us through the help of many.

Paul Defends His Changed Plans

12 For our reason for confidencet is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motivesst and sincerity which are from Godt – not by human wisdomt but by the grace of God – we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the moret toward you.13 For we do not write you anything other than whatt you can read and also understand. But I hope that you will understand completelyt14 just as also you have partly understood us, that we are your source of pride just as you also are ourst in the day of the Lord Jesus.s15 And with this confidence I intended to come to you first so that you would get a second opportunity to see us,t16 and through your help to go on into Macedonia and then from Macedonia to come backt to you and be helped on our way into Judea by you.17 Therefore when I was planning to do this, I did not do so without thinking about what I was doing, did I?t Or do I make my planst according to mere human standardst so that I would be sayingt both “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time?18 But as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the one who was proclaimed among you by us – by me and Silvanuss and Timothy – was not “Yes” and “No,” but it has always been “Yes” in him.20 For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.21 But it is God who establishest us together with you in Christ and who anointed us,t

22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.ts
23 Now I appeal to God as my witness,t that to sparet you I did not come again to Corinth.ss24 I do not mean that we rule over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy, because by faith you stand firm.t
