2 Corintios 1

Saludo

1 Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por la voluntad de Dios, saluda, junto con el hermano Timoteo, a la iglesia de Dios que está en la ciudad de Corinto y a los demás hermanos de toda la región de Acaya.2 Que Dios nuestro Padre y el Señor Jesucristo derramen su gracia y su paz sobre ustedes.

Acción de gracias

3 Alabado sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, pues él es el Padre que nos tiene compasión y el Dios que siempre nos consuela.4 Él nos consuela en todos nuestros sufrimientos, para que nosotros podamos consolar también a los que sufren, dándoles el mismo consuelo que él nos ha dado a nosotros.5 Porque así como los sufrimientos de Cristo se desbordan sobre nosotros y nosotros sufrimos con él, así también por medio de Cristo se desborda nuestro consuelo.6 Pues si nosotros sufrimos, es para que ustedes tengan consuelo y salvación; y si Dios nos consuela, también es para que ustedes tengan consuelo y puedan soportar con fortaleza los mismos sufrimientos que nosotros padecemos.7 Tenemos una esperanza firme en cuanto a ustedes, porque nos consta que, así como tienen parte en los sufrimientos, también tienen parte en el consuelo.8 Hermanos, queremos que sepan cuántas dificultades tuvimos en la provincia de Asia. Fue una prueba tan dura que ya no podíamos resistir más, y hasta perdimos la esperanza de salir con vida.9 Nos sentíamos como condenados a muerte. Pero esto sirvió para enseñarnos a no confiar en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios, que resucita a los muertos.10 Y Dios nos libró y nos librará de tan gran peligro de muerte. Confiamos en que seguirá librándonos,11 si ustedes nos ayudan orando por nosotros. Si muchos oran por nosotros, muchos también darán gracias a Dios por las bendiciones que de él recibimos.

Por qué no viajó a Corinto

12 Tenemos un motivo de orgullo, y es que nuestra conciencia nos dice que nos hemos portado limpia y sinceramente en este mundo, y especialmente en mi relación con ustedes. Nosotros no nos guiamos por la sabiduría humana, sino que confiamos en la gracia de Dios.13 En nuestras cartas, no escribimos nada distinto de lo que ustedes pueden leer y entender. Y espero que lleguen a entender perfectamente,14 como ya en parte han entendido lo que somos, que cuando regrese nuestro Señor Jesús ustedes se sentirán orgullosos de nosotros, como también nosotros nos sentiremos orgullosos de ustedes.15 Confiando en esto, yo había pensado en ir primero a verlos a ustedes, y así hacerles el favor de visitarlos dos veces;16 pensaba visitarlos primero al pasar camino de Macedonia, y después, al regresar, visitarlos otra vez. Así ustedes podrían ayudarme luego a seguir mi viaje a Judea.17 ¿Será que cuando decidí hacer esto no lo pensé seriamente? ¿Creen ustedes que yo hago mis planes con doblez, diciendo «sí» y «no» al mismo tiempo?18 Dios es testigo de que nosotros no les decimos a ustedes «sí» y «no» al mismo tiempo.19 Porque Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios, a quien Silvano, Timoteo y yo predicamos entre ustedes, no fue «sí» y «no» al mismo tiempo. Dios ha dado en Cristo para siempre su «sí»,20 pues en él se cumplen todas las promesas de Dios. Por esto, cuando alabamos a Dios, decimos «Amén» por medio de Cristo Jesús.21 Y Dios es el que a nosotros y a ustedes nos ha afirmado al unirnos a Cristo, y nos ha consagrado.22 Nos ha marcado con su sello, y ha puesto en nuestro corazón el Espíritu Santo como garantía de lo que vamos a recibir.23 Pero si todavía no he ido a Corinto, como pensaba, pongo a Dios por testigo y lo aseguro por mi propia vida, ha sido por consideración a ustedes.24 Nosotros no somos los dueños de su fe; lo que queremos es colaborar con ustedes, para que tengan alegría, pues ustedes ya están firmes en la fe.

2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints that are in the whole of Achaia:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;4 who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.6 But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer:7 and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:9 yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;11 ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.12 For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.13 For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end:14 as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.15 And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit;16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea.17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay?18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay.19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea.20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.21 Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;22 who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.23 But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth.24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.
