コリント人への第二の手紙 1

一

1 　神様からキリスト・イエスの使者に任命されたパウロと、信仰の友テモテから、コリントおよびギリシヤ全土に住むすべてのクリスチャンへ。　2 どうか、私たちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストが、あなたがた一人一人に、あふれるほどの祝福と平安とを、注いでくださいますように。
3-4 私たちの神様は、なんとすばらしいお方でしょう。　神様は、主イエス・キリストの父であり、あらゆる慈愛の源です。　そして、私たちが苦しみや困難にあえいでいる時、すばらしい慰めと励ましを与えてくださるお方です。　どうしてでしょう。　それは、苦しみの中にあって、同情と励ましを必要としている人々に、私たちも、神様から受ける助けと慰めを与えることができるためです。　5 私たちがキリスト様のために苦しめば苦しむほど、慰めと励ましが、もっと豊かにキリスト様から与えられるという事実、これは確かです。　6-7 私たちが大きな苦しみに会うのも、あなたがたが神様の慰めと救いを受けるためです。　現に、苦しんでいる私たちを、神様は慰めてくださいました。　それはまた、あなたがたのためでもあるのです。　すなわち、あなたがたが同じような苦しい境遇に立たされた時、神様の慰めが、どれほどやさしいものであるかを、私たちの体験から知るためです。　神様は必ず、苦しみに耐え抜く力を与えてくださるのです。
8 愛する皆さん。　私たちがアジヤでなめた苦しみについて、ぜひ知っていただきたいと思います。　非常に激しい迫害を受け、打ちのめされて、もうこれ以上生き延びるのはむりかと思いました。　9 死を覚悟し、自分の無力さを痛いほど思い知らされました。　しかし、それがよかったのです。　というのは、そんな状態の中で、何もかも神様にお任せしたからです。　救い出すことができるのは、神様だけです。　死人を復活させることさえ、できるお方なのですから。　10 やはり、神様は私たちを助け、恐ろしい死の危険から救い出してくださいました。　そしてこれからも、何度でも、救い出してくださるに違いありません。　11 あなたがたもまた、祈りによって私たちを助けてください。　それは、私たちの安全を願う、その祈りに、神様がはっきりと答えてくださるのを見て、あなたがたが、もっともっと感謝と賛美をささげるようになるためです。
12 私たちは、どのような場合にも、自分の知恵に頼らず、助けてくださる主に静かに信頼し、きよさと誠実さをもって行動してきました。　特にあなたがたには、そのようにふるまってきました。　胸を張ってそう言えるのを、とてもうれしく思います。　13-14 　私の手紙は、単刀直入に、しかも、真心をこめて書いたものです。　どちらにも取れるあいまいなことは、決して書いていません。　それで、たとい今は、私についてあまりよく知らないあなたがたでも〔もっとも、いつかはよく知っていただきたいのです〕、私を受け入れ、私を誇りとしてくださるよう望みます。　もちろん、今も、ある程度そうしてくれていますが。　ちょうど、主イエスがもう一度帰って来られる日に、私があなたがたを誇りにするのと同じようにです。　15-16 あなたがたの私に対する理解と信頼を確信したので、次のような計画を立てました。　すなわち、マケドニヤへ向かう途中、まずコリントであなたがたに会い、また帰りにも立ち寄るという計画でした。　そうすれば、あなたがたは二倍の祝福を受けることができ、私も、あなたがたに送られて、ユダヤへ行けるからです。
17 では、なぜ計画を変更したのか、と尋ねるかもしれません。　その決心が、まだ固まっていなかったからでしょうか。　それとも、私も世間の人のように、ほんとうは「いいえ」のつもりで「はい」と言ったりしたのでしょうか。　18 絶対にそんなことはありません。　私がそんな人間でないことは、神様の真実さと同様に確かです。　私の「はい」は、ほんとうに「はい」なのです。
19 テモテとシルワノと私は、神の子キリスト・イエスについて語ってきました。　この方は、「いいえ」の意味で「はい」と言われる方ではありません。　いつも、ことばどおり実行なさいます。　20 また、どれほどたくさんの神様の約束でも、ことごとく実行し、完成なさいます。　それで私たちは、この方がどんなに真実な方か、すべての人に知らせ、その御名をほめたたえるのです。　21 あなたがたや私を、忠実なクリスチャンとし、また私たちを、良い知らせを宣べ伝える使徒に任命してくださったのは、この神様です。　22 また、神様のものとなった証拠の印を私たちに押し、私たちの心に聖霊様を遣わしてくださったのも神様です。　この聖霊様は、私たちが神様のものであることの保証であり、また、神様が下さる最初の贈り物です。
23 この神様に証人となっていただき、少しの偽りもない真実を述べましょう。　私がまだ、あなたがたを訪問しないでいるのは、きびしくしかりつけて悲しい思いをさせたくないからです。　24 コリントへ行く時には、〔もっとも、すでにしっかりした信仰を持っているあなたがたのために、私は、そうお役に立てるわけではありませんが〕あなたがたを喜ばせることをしたいと願っています。　悲しみではなく、喜びをもたらしたいのです。

2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints that are in the whole of Achaia:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;4 who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.6 But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer:7 and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:9 yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;11 ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.12 For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.13 For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end:14 as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.15 And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit;16 and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea.17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay?18 But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay.19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea.20 For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.21 Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;22 who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.23 But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth.24 Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.
