2 Corintios 10

Pablo defiende su autoridad

1  Ahora yo, Pablo, les ruego con la ternura y bondad de Cristo, aunque me doy cuenta de que piensan que soy tímido en persona y valiente sólo cuando escribo desde lejos. 2 Pues bien, les suplico ahora, para que cuando vaya, no tenga que ser atrevido con los que piensan que actuamos con intenciones humanas.

3 Somos humanos, pero no luchamos como lo hacen los humanos. 4 t Usamos las armas poderosas de Dios, no las del mundo, para derribar las fortalezas del razonamiento humano y para destruir argumentos falsos. 5 Destruimos todo obstáculo de arrogancia que impide que la gente conozca a Dios. Capturamos los pensamientos rebeldes y enseñamos a las personas a obedecer a Cristo; 6 y una vez que ustedes lleguen a ser totalmente obedientes, castigaremos a todo el que siga en desobediencia.

7 Fíjense en los hechos evidentes.t Los que afirman que pertenecen a Cristo deben reconocer que nosotros pertenecemos a Cristo tanto como ellos. 8 Pareciera que estoy jactándome demasiado de la autoridad que nos dio el Señor, pero nuestra autoridad los edifica a ustedes, no los destruye. Así que no me avergonzaré de usar mi autoridad.

9 No es mi intención asustarlos con mis cartas. 10 Pues algunos dicen: «Las cartas de Pablo son exigentes y fuertes, ¡pero él en persona es débil y sus discursos no valen nada!». 11 Esas personas deberían darse cuenta de que nuestras acciones, cuando lleguemos en persona, serán tan enérgicas como lo que decimos en nuestras cartas, que llegan desde lejos.

12 ¡Ah, no se preocupen! No nos atreveríamos a decir que somos tan maravillosos como esos hombres, que les dicen qué importantes son ellos pero sólo se comparan el uno con el otro, empleándose a sí mismos como estándar de medición. ¡Qué ignorantes!

13 Nosotros no nos jactaremos de cosas hechas fuera de nuestro campo de autoridad. Nos jactaremos sólo de lo que haya sucedido dentro de los límites del trabajo que Dios nos ha dado, los cuales incluyen nuestro trabajo con ustedes. 14 No traspasamos esos límites cuando afirmamos tener autoridad sobre ustedes, como si nunca hubiéramos ido a visitarlos. Pues fuimos los primeros en viajar hasta Corinto con la Buena Noticia de Cristo.

15 Tampoco nos jactamos ni nos atribuimos el mérito por el trabajo que otro haya hecho. En cambio, esperamos que la fe de ustedes crezca, a fin de que se extiendan los límites de nuestro trabajo entre ustedes. 16 Entonces podremos ir a predicar la Buena Noticia en otros lugares más allá de ustedes, donde ningún otro esté trabajando. Así nadie pensará que nos jactamos de trabajar en el territorio de otro. 17 Como dicen las Escrituras: «Si quieres jactarte, jáctate sólo del SEÑOR»t.

18 Cuando la gente se alaba a sí misma, ese elogio no sirve de mucho. Lo importante es que los elogios provengan del Señor.

Paul Defends His Work //for Christ

1 Do you think I am a coward when I am with you and brave when I am far away? Well, I ask you to listen, because Christ himself was humble and gentle. 2 Some people have said we act like the people of this world. So when I arrive, I expect I will have to be firm and forceful in what I say to them. Please don't make me treat you that way. 3 We live in this world, but we don't act like its people 4 or fight our battles with the weapons of this world. Instead, we use God's power that can destroy fortresses. We destroy arguments 5 and every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God. We capture people's thoughts and make them obey Christ.

6 And when you completely obey him, we will punish anyone who refuses to obey.
7 You judge by appearances.t If any of you think you are the only ones who belong to Christ, then think again. We belong to Christ as much as you do. 8 Maybe I brag a little too much about the authority that the Lord gave me to help you and not to hurt you. Yet I am not embarrassed to brag. 9 And I am not trying to scare you with my letters. 10 Some of you are saying, “Paul's letters are harsh and powerful. But in person, he is a weakling and has nothing worth saying.”

11 Those people had better understand that when I am with you, I will do exactly what I say in my letters.
12 We won't dare compare ourselves with those who think so much of themselves. But they are foolish to compare themselves with themselves. 13 We won't brag about something we don't have a right to brag about. We will only brag about the work God has sent us to do, and you are part of that work.

14 We are not bragging more than we should. After all, we did bring the message about Christ to you.
15 We don't brag about what others have done, as if we had done those things ourselves. But I hope as you become stronger in your faith, we will be able to reach many more of the people around you.t That has always been our goal. 16 Then we will be able to preach the good news in other lands where we cannot take credit for work someone else has already done. 17 t The Scriptures say, “If you want to brag, then brag about the Lord.” 18 You may brag about yourself, but the only approval that counts is the Lord's approval.
