Dios le dio autoridad a Pablo

1-2 Dicen que soy muy tímido cuando estoy entre ustedes, pero muy valiente cuando estoy lejos. Yo les ruego, por el cariño y la bondad de Cristo , que cuando vaya a verlos, no me obliguen a ser duro con los que nos acusan. Ellos dicen que nosotros hacemos las cosas sólo por interés, como lo hace la gente de este mundo.3 Es verdad que vivimos en este mundo, pero no actuamos como todo el mundo,4 ni luchamos con las armas de este mundo. Al contrario, usamos el poder de Dios para destruir las fuerzas del mal, las acusaciones5 y el orgullo de quienes quieren impedir que todos conozcan a Dios. Con ese poder hacemos que los pecadores cambien su manera de pensar y obedezcan a Cristo.

6 Estamos dispuestos a castigar a todo el que no obedezca a Cristo, comenzando por ustedes, hasta que llegue el día en que todos lo obedezcan.
7 Ustedes sólo aceptan lo que pueden ver. A los que están seguros de que son de Cristo, quiero decirles que yo también lo soy.8 Aunque yo exagere un poco en mi autoridad, no me da vergüenza. El Señor Jesucristo me dio autoridad sobre ustedes, para ayudarlos a confiar más en él y no para destruirlos.9 No quiero que piensen que trato de asustarlos con mis cartas.10 Algunos dicen que mis cartas son duras y fuertes, pero que cuando hablo en persona soy débil, y que no sé hablar bien ni impresiono a nadie.

11 Esas personas tienen que entender que, cuando vaya a verlos, seré tan fuerte como lo soy en las cartas que envío desde lejos.
12 Jamás llegaré a compararme con los que hablan bien de sí mismos. Compararse con uno mismo es una tontería.13 Tampoco voy a presumir de lo que no he hecho. Si de algo voy a sentirme orgulloso, es del trabajo que Dios me mandó hacer. ¡Y ustedes son parte de ese trabajo!14 No voy a presumir más de lo que debo, pero fui de los primeros en llegar a Corinto y en anunciarles la buena noticia de Jesucristo.15 Tampoco voy a sentirme orgulloso del trabajo que otros hicieron. Al contrario, espero poder trabajar más entre ustedes, según vaya aumentando su confianza en Dios. Ésa es la meta de mi trabajo.

16 También deseo anunciar la buena noticia en lugares más allá de Corinto, donde nadie haya trabajado antes. Así nadie podrá decir que ando presumiendo con el trabajo de otros.
17 La Biblia dice: «Si alguien quiere sentirse orgulloso de algo, que se sienta orgulloso de creer en el Señor.»

18 La persona que merece aplausos no es la que habla bien de sí misma, sino aquella de quien el Señor habla bien.

2 CORINTHIANS 10

Paul Defends His Work //for Christ

1 Do you think I am a coward when I am with you and brave when I am far away? Well, I ask you to listen, because Christ himself was humble and gentle. 2 Some people have said we act like the people of this world. So when I arrive, I expect I will have to be firm and forceful in what I say to them. Please don't make me treat you that way. 3 We live in this world, but we don't act like its people 4 or fight our battles with the weapons of this world. Instead, we use God's power that can destroy fortresses. We destroy arguments 5 and every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God. We capture people's thoughts and make them obey Christ.

6 And when you completely obey him, we will punish anyone who refuses to obey.
7 You judge by appearances.t If any of you think you are the only ones who belong to Christ, then think again. We belong to Christ as much as you do. 8 Maybe I brag a little too much about the authority that the Lord gave me to help you and not to hurt you. Yet I am not embarrassed to brag. 9 And I am not trying to scare you with my letters. 10 Some of you are saying, “Paul's letters are harsh and powerful. But in person, he is a weakling and has nothing worth saying.”

11 Those people had better understand that when I am with you, I will do exactly what I say in my letters.
12 We won't dare compare ourselves with those who think so much of themselves. But they are foolish to compare themselves with themselves. 13 We won't brag about something we don't have a right to brag about. We will only brag about the work God has sent us to do, and you are part of that work.

14 We are not bragging more than we should. After all, we did bring the message about Christ to you.
15 We don't brag about what others have done, as if we had done those things ourselves. But I hope as you become stronger in your faith, we will be able to reach many more of the people around you.t That has always been our goal. 16 Then we will be able to preach the good news in other lands where we cannot take credit for work someone else has already done. 17 t The Scriptures say, “If you want to brag, then brag about the Lord.” 18 You may brag about yourself, but the only approval that counts is the Lord's approval.
