2 CORINTIOS 5
1 Sabemos, además, que aunque se desmorone esta tienda corporal que nos sirve de morada terrestre, Dios nos tiene preparada en el cielo una moradat eterna, no construida por manos humanas.t 2 Y suspiramos anhelando ser sobrevestidos de esa nuestra morada celestial,t 3 dando por supuesto que seremos revestidos y no despojados de ella. 4 En verdad, a los que vivimos en esta morada corporal nos abruma la aflicción, pues no queremos quedar desnudos, sino ser sobrevestidos de modo que lo mortal sea absorbido por la vida.t
5 A eso precisamente nos ha destinado Dios, y como garantíat nos ha dado el Espíritu.
6 Así que en todo momento estamos llenos de confianza sabiendo que, mientras el cuerpo sea nuestra morada, nos hallamos lejos del Señor 7 y caminamos guiados por la fe y no por lo que vemos.t 8 Rebosamos confianza, a pesar de todo, y preferiríamos abandonar el cuerpo para ir a vivir junto al Señor.t 9 Por eso, tanto si vivimos en este cuerpo como si lo abandonamos, lo que deseamos es agradar al Señor.
10 Porque todos nosotros tenemos que presentarnos ante el tribunal de Cristo para que cada uno reciba el premio o el castigo que le corresponda por lo que hizo durante su vida mortal.tNuevas criaturas en Cristo Jesús
11 Conscientes del respeto que merece el Señor, nos esforzamos en convencer a los demás, pues lo mismo que nuestra vida no tiene secretos para Dios, espero que tampoco los tenga para ustedes. 12 Y no es que otra vez nos estemos haciendo la propaganda ante ustedes; tan sólo queremos brindarles la ocasión de que estén orgullosos de nosotros y así puedan responder a quienes presumen de apariencias y no de realidades.t 13 Porque si dimos la impresión de excedernost, por Dios lo hicimos; y si ahora parecemos más serenos, por ustedes lo hacemos. 14 En todo caso, es el amor de Cristo el que nos apremia, al pensar que, si uno murió por todos, todos en cierto modo han muerto.t 15 Cristo, en efecto, murió por todos, para que quienes viven, ya no vivan más para sí mismos, sino para aquel que murió y resucitó por ellos.t 16 Así que en adelante a nadie valoramos con criterios humanos. Y si en algún tiempo valoramos a Cristo con esos criterios, ahora ya no.
17 Quien vive en Cristo es una nueva criatura; lo viejo ha pasado y una nueva realidad está presente.tPortadores de paz
18 Todo se lo debemos a Dios que nos ha puesto en paz con él por medio de Cristo y nos ha confiado la tarea de llevar esa paz a los demás.t 19 Porque sin tomar en cuenta los pecados de la humanidad, Dios hizo la paz con el mundo por medio de Cristo y a nosotros nos ha confiado ese mensaje de paz. 20 Somos, pues, embajadores de Cristo y es como si Dios mismo los exhortara a ustedes sirviéndose de nosotros. En nombre de Cristo les pedimos que hagan las paces con Dios. 21 Al que no tuvo experiencia de pecado, Dios lo trató por nosotros como al propio pecado, para que, por medio de él, experimentemos nosotros la fuerza salvadorat de Dios.t
2 Corinthians 5
Living by Faith, Not by Sight
1 For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in,s is dismantled,t we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.2 For in this earthly houset we groan, because we desire to put ont our heavenly dwelling,3 if indeed, after we have put ons our heavenly house,t we will not be found naked.4 For we groan while we are in this tent,s since we are weighed down,t because we do not want to be unclothed, but clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.5 Now the one who prepared us for this very purposet is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.t6 Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on eartht we are absent from the Lord –7 for we livet by faith, not by sight.8 Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be awayt from the body and at home with the Lord.9 So then whether we are alivet or away, we make it our ambition to please him.t
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,s so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.t
The Message of Reconciliation
11 Therefore, because we know the fear of the Lord,t we try to persuadet people,t but we are well knownt to God, and I hope we are well known to your consciences too.12 We are not trying to commendt ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to be proud of us,t so that you may be able to answer those who take pridet in outward appearancet and not in what is in the heart.13 For if we are out of our minds, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you.14 For the love of Christt controls us, since we have concluded this, that Christt died for all; therefore all have died.15 And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised.t16 So then from now on we acknowledget no one from an outward human point of view.t Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view,t now we do not know him in that way any longer.17 So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed awayt – look, what is news has come!t18 And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation.19 In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given ust the message of reconciliation.20 Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His pleat through us. We plead with yout on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!”
21 Godt made the one who did not know sins to be sin for us, so that in hims we would become the righteousness of God.
