Saludo

1 Del líder y encargado de la iglesia, a los hermanos y hermanas que Dios ha elegido: Yo los amo, y no sólo yo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,

2 la cual nos hace amarnos.

3 Les pido a Dios el Padre y a su Hijo Jesucristo que sean buenos con ustedes, que los traten con mucho amor, y que les den su paz. ¡Que hagan que en ustedes abunden la verdad y el amor!

El amor verdadero

4 Me alegré mucho al encontrar que algunos de ustedes viven de acuerdo con la verdad, como Dios el Padre nos mandó.5 Ahora les pido que nos amemos los unos a los otros. Este mandamiento no es nuevo: es el mismo que se nos dio desde el principio.

6 El que ama de verdad también obedece los mandamientos de Dios. Y como ustedes lo han sabido desde el principio, Dios nos manda que vivamos amando siempre a los demás.

¡Cuidado con los falsos maestros!

7 En el mundo hay muchos que engañan a la gente diciendo que Jesucristo no vino al mundo como un hombre de verdad, de carne y hueso. Eso lo dice el Enemigo de Cristo, que es un mentiroso.

8 Tengan cuidado, para que no se eche a perder todo lo bueno que hemos hecho por ustedes. De lo contrario, ustedes no recibirán de Dios el premio completo.
9 Si no permanecen fieles a lo que Cristo enseñó, Dios se apartará de ustedes. Pero si se mantienen firmes en lo que Cristo enseñó, Dios el Padre, y el Hijo estarán siempre con ustedes.10 Si alguien va a visitarlos y no enseña estas cosas, no lo reciban en su casa ni lo saluden,

11 porque saludarlo es lo mismo que hacer lo malo que él hace.

Despedida

12 Tengo mucho que decirles, pero prefiero no hacerlo por carta. Espero poder ir a visitarlos y hablarles personalmente. Así estaré completamente feliz.

13 La iglesia donde ahora estoy tiene una relación muy estrecha con la iglesia de ustedes. Y los miembros de esta iglesia les mandan saludos.

2 John 1

1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth;2 for the truth’s sake which abideth in us, and it shall be with us for ever:3 Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.4 I rejoice greatly that I have found certain of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.6 And this is love, that we should walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, even as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.7 For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.8 Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward.9 Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son.10 If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting:11 for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works.12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write them with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and to speak face to face, that your joy may be made full.13 The children of thine elect sister salute thee.
