2 Petro 1

1 Mimi Simoni Petro, mtumishi na mtume wa Yesu Kristo, nawaandikia nyinyi ambao, kwa wema wake Mungu wetu na Mwokozi Yesu Kristo, mmejaliwa imani ileile ya thamani kuu tuliyojaliwa sisi.

2 Nawatakieni neema na amani tele katika kumjua Mungu na Yesu Bwana wetu.

Mmeitwa na kuteuliwa na Mungu

3 Kwa uwezo wake wa kimungu, Mungu ametujalia mambo yote tunayohitaji ili tuishi maisha ya kumcha Mungu kwa kumjua yeye aliyetuita tuushiriki utukufu na wema wake yeye mwenyewe. 4 Kwa namna hiyo ametujalia zawadi kuu na za thamani ambazo alituahidia, ili kwa zawadi hizo mpate kuziepa kabisa tamaa mbaya zilizomo duniani, na kuishiriki hali yake ya kimungu. 5 Kwa sababu hiyo, fanyeni bidii ya kuongeza imani yenu kwa fadhila, fadhila yenu kwa elimu, 6 elimu yenu kwa kuwa na kiasi, kuwa na kiasi kwa uvumilivu, uvumilivu wenu kwa uchaji wa Mungu, 7 uchaji wenu kwa urafiki wa kindugu, na urafiki wenu wa kindugu kwa mapendo. 8 Mkiwa na sifa hizo zote kwa wingi, zitawawezesheni kuwa watendaji na kupata faida katika kumjua Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo. 9 Lakini mtu asiye na sifa hizo ni kipofu, hawezi kuona na amesahau kwamba alikwisha takaswa dhambi zake za zamani.

10 Kwa hiyo basi, ndugu zangu, fanyeni bidii zaidi kuufanya huo wito wenu mlioitiwa na Mungu uwe jambo la kudumu katika maisha yenu; kama mkiishi namna hiyo hamtaanguka kamwe. 11 Kwa namna hiyo mtafaulu kupewa haki kamili ya kuingia katika ufalme wa milele wa Bwana na Mwokozi wetu Yesu Kristo.

12 Kwa hiyo nitaendelea kuwakumbusheni daima mambo haya, ingawa mmekwisha yafahamu na mko imara katika ukweli mlioupokea. 13 Nadhani ni jambo jema kwangu, muda wote niishio hapa duniani, kuwapeni moyo na kuwakumbusheni juu ya mambo haya. 14 Najua kwamba karibu nitauweka kando mwili huu wenye kufa, kama Bwana alivyoniambia waziwazi. 15 Basi, nitajitahidi kusudi baada ya kufariki kwangu mweze kuyakumbuka mambo haya kila wakati.

Tuliuona utukufu wa Kristo

16 Wakati tulipowafundisheni juu ya ukuu wa kuja kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo, hatukutegemea hadithi tupu zisizo na msingi. Sisi tuliuona utukufu wake kwa macho yetu wenyewe. 17 Sisi tulikuwapo wakati alipopewa heshima na utukufu kutoka kwa Mungu Baba, wakati sauti ilipomjia kutoka kwake yeye aliye Utukufu Mkuu, ikisema: “Huyu ni Mwanangu mpenzi ambaye nimependezwa naye.” 18 Tena, sisi wenyewe tulisikia sauti hiyo kutoka mbinguni wakati tulipokuwa pamoja naye juu ya ule mlima mtakatifu.

19 Tena, ujumbe wa manabii watuthibitishia jambo hilo; nanyi mwafanya vema kama mkiuzingatia, maana ni kama taa inayoangaza mahali penye giza mpaka siku ile itakapopambazuka na mwanga wa nyota ya asubuhi utakapong'ara mioyoni mwenu. 20 Zaidi ya hayo, lakini, kumbukeni kwamba hakuna mtu yeyote awezaye kufafanua mwenyewe unabii ulio katika Maandiko Matakatifu. 21 Maana hakuna ujumbe wa kinabii unaotokana na matakwa ya binadamu, bali watu walitoa unabii wakiongozwa na Roho Mtakatifu.

2 Peter 1

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10 Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:11 for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.12 Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.13 And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;14 knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.15 Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:18 and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.19 And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
