베드로후서 1

인사

1  예수 그리스도의 종이요 사도인 t시므온 베드로가, 우리 하나님과 구주 예수 그리스도의 의를 힘입어서, 우리의 믿음과 같은 귀한 믿음을 받은 이들에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 2 하나님과 우리 주 예수를 앎으로써, 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 더욱 풍성하여지기를 바랍니다.

부르심과 선택하심

3 하나님께서는, 우리가 그를 앎으로 말미암아 생명과 경건에 이르게 하는 모든 것을, 그의 권능으로 우리에게 주셨습니다. 하나님은 우리를 부르셔서 그의 영광과 덕을 누리게 해 주신 분이십니다. 4 그는 이 영광과 덕으로 귀중하고 아주 위대한 약속들을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 그것은 이 약속들로 말미암아 여러분이 세상에서 정욕 때문에 부패하는 사람이 되는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 성품에 참여하는 사람이 되게 하시려는 것입니다. 5 그러므로 여러분은 열성을 다하여 여러분의 믿음에 덕을 더하고, 덕에 지식을 더하고, 6 지식에 절제를 더하고, 절제에 인내를 더하고, 인내에 경건을 더하고, 7 경건에 신도간의 우애를 더하고, 신도간의 우애에 사랑을 더하도록 하십시오. 8 이런 것들이 여러분에게 갖추어지고, 또 넉넉해지면, 여러분은 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 아는 일에 게으르거나 열매를 맺지 못하는 사람이 되지 않을 것입니다. 9 그러나 이런 것들을 갖추지 못한 사람은 근시안이거나 앞을 못 보는 사람입니다. 이런 사람은 자기의 옛 죄가 깨끗하여졌음을 잊어버린 것입니다. 10 그러므로 t형제자매 여러분, 더욱 더 힘써서, 여러분이 부르심을 받은 것과 택하심을 받은 것을 굳게 하십시오. 그러면 여러분은 넘어지지 않을 것입니다. 11 또한 여러분은, 우리의 주님이시며 구주이신 예수 그리스도의 영원한 나라에 들어갈 자격을 충분히 갖출 것입니다. 12 그러므로 비록 여러분이 이런 것들을 알고 있고, 또 받은 진리에 굳게 서 있지만, 나는 언제나 이런 것들을 두고서 여러분을 일깨우려 합니다. 13 나는, 이 육신의 장막에 사는 동안, 여러분의 기억을 일깨워서 분발하게 하는 것이 옳다고 생각합니다. 14 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 나에게 보여주신 대로, 내가 t육신의 장막을 벗을 때가 멀지 않음을 알고 있기 때문입니다. 15 그리고 내가 세상을 떠난 뒤에도 언제든지 여러분이 이런 일들을 기억할 수 있게 하려고 힘을 쓰고 있습니다.

그리스도의 영광과 예언자의 말

16 우리가 여러분에게 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 권능과 재림을 알려 드린 것은, 교묘하게 꾸민 신화를 따라서 한 것이 아닙니다. 우리는 그의 위엄을 눈으로 본 사람들입니다. 17 더없이 영광스러운 분께서 그에게 말씀하시기를 t“이는 내 사랑하는 아들이요, 내가 좋아하는 아들이다” 하실 때에, 그는 하나님 아버지께로부터 존귀와 영광을 받았습니다. 18 우리가 그 거룩한 산에서 그분과 함께 있을 때에 우리는 이 말소리가 하늘로부터 들려오는 것을 들었습니다. 19 또 우리에게는 더욱 확실한 예언의 말씀이 있습니다. 여러분의 마음 속에서 날이 새고 샛별이 떠오를 때까지, 여러분은 어둠 속에서 비치는 등불을 대하듯이, 이 예언의 말씀에 주의를 기울이는 것이 좋습니다. 20 여러분이 무엇보다도 먼저 알아야 할 것은 이것입니다. 아무도 성경의 모든 예언을 제멋대로 해석해서는 안됩니다. 21 예언은 언제든지 사람의 뜻에서 나온 것이 아니라, 사람들이 성령에 이끌려서 하나님께로부터 오는 말씀을 받아서 한 것입니다.

2 PETER 1

1 From Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
To everyone who shares with us in the privilege of believing that our God and Savior Jesus Christ will do what is just and fair.t

2 I pray that God will be kind to you and will let you live in perfect peace! May you keep learning more and more about God and our Lord Jesus.

Living as the Lord's //Followers

3 We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when we learned he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness.

4 God made great and marvelous promises, so his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world.
5 Do your best to improve your faith by adding goodness, understanding, 6 self-control, patience, devotion to God, 7 concern for others, and love. 8 If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful.

9 But if you don't grow, you are like someone who is nearsighted or blind, and you have forgotten that your past sins are forgiven.
10 My friends, you must do all you can to show God has really chosen and selected you. If you keep on doing this, you won't stumble and fall.

11 Then our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will give you a glorious welcome into his kingdom that will last forever.
12 You are holding firmly to the truth you were given. But I am still going to remind you of these things. 13 In fact, I think I should keep on reminding you until I leave this body. 14 And our Lord Jesus Christ has already told me that I will soon leave it behind.

15 This is why I am doing my best to make sure that each of you remembers all of this after I am gone.

The Message about the Glory //of Christ

16 When we told you about the power and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not telling clever stories someone had made up. But with our own eyes we saw his true greatness. 17 t God, our great and wonderful Father, truly honored him by saying, “This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him.”

18 We were there with Jesus on the holy mountain and heard this voice speak from heaven.
19 All of this makes us even more certain that what the prophets said is true. So you should pay close attention to their message, as you would to a lamp shining in some dark place. You must keep on paying attention until daylight comes and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 But you need to realize that no one alone can understand any of the prophecies in the Scriptures. 21 The prophets did not think these things up on their own, but they were guided by the Spirit of God.
