1 สิเมโอนtเปโตร ผู้รับใช้และอัครทูตของพระเยซูคริสต์
เรียน บรรดาผู้ที่ได้รับความเชื่ออันล้ำค่าเช่นเดียวกับเรา โดยความชอบธรรมแห่งพระเจ้าของเราทั้งหลายคือพระเยซูคริสต์พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา
2 ขอพระคุณและสันติสุขจงเพิ่มพูนแก่ท่านทั้งหลายยิ่งๆ ขึ้น โดยการรู้จักพระเจ้าและพระเยซูองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
การทรงเรียกและการทรงเลือก
3 ฤทธิ์เดชของพระเจ้าได้ให้ทุกสิ่งแก่เรา ที่จำเป็นต่อชีวิตและต่อการดำเนินตามทางพระเจ้า โดยการรู้จักพระองค์ ผู้ได้ทรงเรียกเราด้วยพระสิริและคุณธรรมของพระองค์เอง 4 โดยสิ่งเหล่านี้พระองค์จึงได้ประทานพระสัญญาอันล้ำค่าและยิ่งใหญ่แก่เรา เพื่อว่าโดยพระสัญญาเหล่านี้ พวกท่านจะพ้นจากความเสื่อมทรามที่มีอยู่ในโลกอันเกิดจากความปรารถนาชั่ว และจะมีส่วนในพระลักษณะของพระเจ้า 5 ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง พวกท่านจงพยายามอย่างที่สุดที่จะเอาคุณธรรมเพิ่มความเชื่อของพวกท่าน เอาความรู้เพิ่มคุณธรรม 6 เอาการควบคุมตัวเองเพิ่มความรู้ เอาความทรหดอดทนเพิ่มการควบคุมตัวเอง และเอาความยำเกรงพระเจ้าเพิ่มความทรหดอดทน 7 เอาความรักฉันพี่น้องเพิ่มความยำเกรงพระเจ้า และเอาความรักเพิ่มความรักฉันพี่น้อง 8 ถ้าสิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นคุณลักษณะของพวกท่านและเพิ่มพูนขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ก็จะทำให้พวกท่านเป็นคนไม่ไร้ประโยชน์ และไม่ไร้ผลในการรู้จักพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา 9 เพราะว่าผู้ใดที่ขาดคุณลักษณะเหล่านี้ก็เป็นคนตาบอดหรือตาสั้น และลืมไปว่าตนได้รับการชำระให้สะอาดจากบาปแล้ว 10 เพราะเหตุนั้น พี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงพยายามมากขึ้นที่จะยืนยันการทรงเรียกและการทรงเลือกพวกท่านนั้นt เพราะว่าถ้าพวกท่านทำเช่นนั้น ท่านจะไม่มีวันล้มลง 11 เพราะโดยวิธีนี้ ทางที่จะเข้าอาณาจักรนิรันดร์ของพระเยซูคริสต์ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา จะถูกจัดเตรียมอย่างพร้อมมูลให้กับพวกท่าน
12 เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพเจ้าพร้อมเสมอที่จะเตือนความจำท่านทั้งหลายถึงสิ่งเหล่านี้ ถึงแม้ว่าพวกท่านรู้และตั้งมั่นในความจริงนั้นแล้ว 13 ตราบที่ข้าพเจ้ายังอยู่ในกายtนี้ ข้าพเจ้าเห็นสมควรที่จะฟื้นความจำพวกท่าน 14 เพราะข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่าอีกไม่นานข้าพเจ้าก็จะตายt ดังที่พระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราได้ทรงแจ้งแก่ข้าพเจ้าแล้ว 15 และข้าพเจ้าจะพยายามให้ท่านทั้งหลายระลึกถึงสิ่งเหล่านี้เสมอ หลังจากข้าพเจ้าจากไปแล้ว
พระสิริของพระคริสต์และคำของผู้เผยพระวจนะ
16 เพราะว่าเราไม่ได้คล้อยตามนิยายที่แต่งขึ้นอย่างชาญฉลาด เมื่อเราได้ประกาศให้พวกท่านทราบถึงฤทธานุภาพ และการเสด็จกลับมาของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราทั้งหลาย แต่เราเป็นสักขีพยานถึงความยิ่งใหญ่ของพระองค์ 17 เพราะว่าคราวเมื่อพระองค์ทรงได้รับพระเกียรติและพระสิริจากพระเจ้าพระบิดา และพระสุรเสียงจากพระสิริอันยิ่งใหญ่ได้มาถึงพระองค์ว่า “ท่านผู้นี้เป็นบุตรของเราและเป็นที่รักของเรา เราพอใจท่านผู้นี้มาก” 18 พวกเราเองก็ได้ยินพระสุรเสียงนี้จากสวรรค์ ขณะที่เราอยู่กับพระองค์ที่ภูเขาบริสุทธิ์นั้นt 19 และเรามีคำเผยพระวจนะที่แน่นอนยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก จะเป็นการดีถ้าพวกท่านจะเอาใจใส่คำนั้น เพราะคำนั้นเป็นเสมือนตะเกียงที่ส่องสว่างในที่มืด จนกว่าแสงอรุณจะขึ้น และดาวรุ่งtจะผุดขึ้นในใจของพวกท่าน 20 ท่านทั้งหลายต้องเข้าใจข้อนี้ก่อน คือผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดจะตีความหมายคำของผู้เผยพระวจนะในพระคัมภีร์เอาเองไม่ได้ 21 เพราะว่าคำของผู้เผยพระวจนะนั้น ไม่ได้มาจากความประสงค์ของมนุษย์เลย แต่มนุษย์กล่าวคำซึ่งมาจากพระเจ้า ตามที่พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ทรงดลใจเขา
2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10 Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:11 for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.12 Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.13 And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;14 knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.15 Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:18 and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.19 And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
