ペテロの第二の手紙 1

一

1 イエス・キリストの召使であり、宣教者であるシモン・ペテロから、同じ信仰の持ち主である皆さんへ。　ここで言う信仰とは、神であり救い主であるイエス・キリストから与えられたものです。　それは、なんと尊いものでしょう。　また、その信仰を与えてくださるキリスト様は、なんと正しく、なんと恵み深いお方でしょう。
2 あなたがたも、神様のいつくしみと平安とを、もっとたくさんいただきたいと願うでしょう。　それなら、もっと深くイエス・キリストについて学びなさい。　3 キリスト様を知れば知るほど、その偉大な力を通して、神様に従う正しい生活を送るために必要なすべてのものが、いただけるのです。　そればかりか、キリスト様は、自分の栄光と、みがかれた品性をも、私たちに与えてくださるのです。　4 さらに、かねてお約束のすばらしい祝福をも、余すところなく注いでくださっています。　この約束のゆえに、私たちは陥りやすい肉欲や腐敗から守られ、キリスト様のご性質をそなえた者となれるのです。
5 ところで、これらの贈り物をいただくために、信仰はもちろん、それとは別に必要なものがあります。　まず神様に喜ばれるために、一生懸命励まなければなりません。　しかし、それだけではだめです。　さらによく神様を理解し、神様が何を望んでおられるかを、知らなければなりません。　6 そして次に、自分の欲を捨て、忍耐と敬虔さを身につけ、喜んで、神様にすべてをゆだねなさい。　7 そうすれば、次の段階に進むことができます。　すなわち、人に好意を示し、気持ちよく交際し、深い愛で結ばれるようになります。　8 こうなれば、あなたがたは霊的な面でますます強められ、主イエス・キリストのために、多くの有益な働きができるのです。　9 しかし、信仰さえあればよいと考え、それ以上のものを追い求めない人は、盲目か、ひどい近眼です。　そんな人は、神様が、これからは主のために、正しく、りっぱな生活を送るようにと、過去の罪から救ってくださったことなど、すっかり忘れているのです。
10 ですから、愛する皆さん。　ますます熱心に、自分がほんとうに神様に招かれ、選ばれた者であることを、身をもって証明しなさい。　そうすれば、人生で、決してつまずいたり、倒れたりしないでしょう。　11 そして神様は、あなたがたを、主であり、救い主であるイエス・キリストの永遠の国に迎え入れるために、門を広く開けてくださるでしょう。
12 もちろん、こんなことは、すでによくわかって、一歩一歩着実に歩んでいるでしょうが、それでもなお、常にこれらのことを思い起こしてもらいたいのです。　13-14 もう、私の生涯も残り少なく、まもなく死ぬことを、主イエス・キリストから示されています。　それで、この世にあるかぎり、これらの注意書きを送ろうと、決心したのです。　15 私が死んだあとにも、これらのことを忘れないように、あなたがたの心に、はっきりと刻み込んでおきたいからです。
16 私たちは、主イエス・キリストの力と、再び地上へ来られることについて話してきましたが、それは、うまく考え出した作り話ではありません。　私はこの目で、キリスト様の輝きと栄光とを、はっきり見たのです。　17-18 キリスト様が、聖なる山の上で、父なる神から誉れと栄光とを受けて輝かれた時、私はその場に居合わせました。　その時、栄光にあふれる厳かな声が天から響くのを、はっきり聞いたのです。　「これこそわたしの愛する子、わたしの大いなる喜び。」
19 こうして、預言者のことばが現実となるのを、目のあたりにしたのです。　これら預言者のことばに、今まで以上の関心を寄せるのは、たいへん良いことです。　そのことばは、暗い部屋のすみずみまでも照らし出す明かりのようなもので、難解なまま、暗やみの中に放りっぱなしにされかねない多くのことに光をあて、理解させてくれたのです。　このことばの真理に思いをはせる時、あなたがたのたましいに、夜明けの光が差し込み、明けの明星であるキリスト様が、心を照らしてくださるのです。　20-21 なぜなら、聖書にある預言者のことばは、預言者がかってに考え出したものではないからです。　それは、これら神様を敬う人の心に住まれる聖霊様がお授けになった、混じりけのない神様からのことばなのです。

2 Peter 1

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10 Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:11 for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.12 Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.13 And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;14 knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.15 Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:18 and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.19 And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
