2 Petru 1
1 Simon Petru, rob și apostol al lui Isus Hristos, către cei ce au căpătat o credință de același preț cu a noastră, prin dreptatea Dumnezeului și Mântuitorului nostru Isus Hristos:2 Harul și pacea să vă fie înmulțite prin cunoașterea lui Dumnezeu și a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos!3 Dumnezeiasca Lui putere ne-a dăruit tot ce privește viața și evlavia, prin cunoașterea Celui ce ne-a chemat prin slava și puterea Lui,4 prin care El ne-a dat făgăduințele Lui nespus de mari și scumpe, ca prin ele să vă faceți părtași firii dumnezeiești, după ce ați fugit de stricăciunea care este în lume prin pofte.5 De aceea, dați-vă și voi toate silințele ca să uniți cu credința voastră fapta; cu fapta, cunoștința;6 cu cunoștința, înfrânarea; cu înfrânarea, răbdarea; cu răbdarea, evlavia;7 cu evlavia, dragostea de frați; cu dragostea de frați, iubirea de oameni.8 Căci, dacă aveți din belșug aceste lucruri în voi, ele nu vă vor lăsa să fiți nici leneși, nici neroditori în ce privește deplina cunoștință a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos.9 Dar cine nu are aceste lucruri este orb, umblă cu ochii închiși și a uitat că a fost curățat de vechile lui păcate.10 De aceea, fraților, căutați cu atât mai mult să vă întăriți chemarea și alegerea voastră; căci, dacă faceți lucrul acesta, nu veți aluneca niciodată.11 În adevăr, în chipul acesta vi se va da din belșug intrare în Împărăția veșnică a Domnului și Mântuitorului nostru Isus Hristos.12 De aceea, voi fi gata să vă aduc totdeauna aminte de lucrurile acestea, măcar că le știți și sunteți tari în adevărul pe care-l aveți.13 Dar socotesc că este drept, cât voi mai fi în cortul acesta, să vă țin treji aducându-vă aminte;14 căci știu că dezbrăcarea de cortul meu va veni deodată, după cum mi-a arătat Domnul nostru Isus Hristos.15 Îmi voi da osteneala, dar, ca, și după moartea mea, să vă puteți aduce totdeauna aminte de aceste lucruri.16 În adevăr, v-am făcut cunoscut puterea și venirea Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, nu întemeindu-ne pe niște basme meșteșugit alcătuite, ci ca unii care am văzut noi înșine cu ochii noștri mărirea Lui.17 Căci El a primit de la Dumnezeu Tatăl cinste și slavă, atunci când, din slava minunată, s-a auzit deasupra Lui un glas care zicea: „Acesta este Fiul Meu preaiubit în care Îmi găsesc plăcerea.”18 Și noi înșine am auzit acest glas venind din cer, când eram cu El pe muntele cel sfânt.19 Și avem cuvântul prorociei făcut și mai tare; la care bine faceți că luați aminte, ca la o lumină care strălucește într-un loc întunecos, până se va crăpa de ziuă și va răsări luceafărul de dimineață în inimile voastre.20 Fiindcă mai întâi de toate, să știți că nicio prorocie din Scriptură nu se tâlcuiește singură.21 Căci nicio prorocie n-a fost adusă prin voia omului; ci oamenii au vorbit de la Dumnezeu, mânați de Duhul Sfânt.

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10 Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:11 for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.12 Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with you.13 And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;14 knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.15 Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:18 and this voice we ourselves heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.19 And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
