2 Pedro 1

Segunda carta de

1 Un cordial saludo de Simón Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, a todos los que comparten una fe tan preciosa como la nuestra porque nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo es justo.

2 Que Dios les dé cada vez más de su generoso amort y paz a través del conocimiento que ustedes tienen de Dios y de nuestro Señor Jesús.

Dios nos da todo

3 Con su poder divino, Jesús nos da todo lo que necesitamos para dedicar nuestra vida a Dios. Todo lo tenemos porque lo conocemos a él, quien nos llamó por su gloriat y excelencia.

4 Así, nos dio promesas preciosas y valiosas; confiando en ellas, ustedes serán semejantes a Dios y podrán escapar del mundo, el cual será destruido a causa de los malos deseos de los seres humanos.
5 Como ya tienen esas promesas, esfuércense ahora por mejorar su vida así: a la fe, añádanle un carácter digno de admiración; al carácter digno de admiración, añádanle conocimiento.6 Al conocimiento, añádanle dominio propio; al dominio propio, añádanle constancia; a la constancia, añádanle servicio a Dios;7 al servicio a Dios, añádanle afecto a sus hermanos en Cristo y a ese afecto, añádanle amor.8 Si todas estas cosas están presentes en su vida y aumentan, entonces no serán gente inútil y no habrán conocido en vano a nuestro Señor Jesucristo.9 Si a alguien le faltan estas cosas, entonces está tan corto de vista que está ciego y ha olvidado que sus pecados fueron perdonados.10 Así que hermanos, Dios los llamó y los eligió. Esfuércense por demostrarlo en su vida, y así nunca caerán,

11 sino que recibirán una grandiosa bienvenida al reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.
12 Ustedes ya saben todo esto y permanecen firmes en la verdad que se les enseñó; sin embargo, yo siempre los ayudaré a recordarlo.13 Creo que hago bien en recordarles esto mientras esté aquí en la tierra, porque14 nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha hecho saber que pronto tendré que dejar esta vida.

15 Por eso haré todo lo que pueda para asegurarme de que siempre lo tengan presente, aun después de que yo me vaya.

Vimos la gloria de Cristo

16 No les estábamos contando ningún cuento cuando les dijimos que nuestro Señor Jesucristo vendrá y revelará su poder, porque nosotros ya vimos la grandeza de Jesús con nuestros propios ojos.17 Él recibió honor y gloriat cuando escuchó la voz de Dios Padre, el grandioso y glorioso, diciendo: «Este es mi Hijo amado, estoy muy contento con él».

18 Nosotros escuchamos esa voz que vino del cielo mientras estábamos con Jesús en el monte santo.t
19 Podemos confiar por completo en lo que dijeron los profetas y está muy bien que ustedes sigan cuidadosamente sus palabras. Sus profecías son como una lámpara que alumbra en la oscuridad hasta que llegue el amanecer en el que Cristo, como la estrella de la mañana, les traerá nueva luz al corazón.20 Sobre todo, deben entender que ninguna profecía aparece en la Escriturat por el deseo propio del profeta.t

21 Ninguna profecía fue dicha por el impulso de algún hombre. Todo lo contrario, los profetas hablaron de parte de Dios, guiados por el Espíritu Santo.

Growth in Christian Virtue

1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder,14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.15 And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.

Eyewitnesses

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-18 and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

19  So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation,21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
