1 لیکن جس طرح ماضی میں اسرائیل قوم میں جھوٹے نبی بھی تھے، اُسی طرح آپ میں سے بھی جھوٹے اُستاد کھڑے ہو جائیں گے۔ یہ خدا کی جماعتوں میں مہلک تعلیمات پھیلائیں گے بلکہ اپنے مالک کو جاننے سے انکار بھی کریں گے جس نے انہیں خرید لیا تھا۔ ایسی حرکتوں سے یہ جلد ہی اپنے آپ پر ہلاکت لائیں گے۔2 بہت سے لوگ اُن کی عیاش حرکتوں کی پیروی کریں گے، اور اِس وجہ سے دوسرے سچائی کی راہ پر کفر بکیں گے۔3 لالچ کے سبب سے یہ اُستاد آپ کو فرضی کہانیاں سنا کر آپ کی لوٹ کھسوٹ کریں گے۔ لیکن اللہ نے بڑی دیر سے اُنہیں مجرم ٹھہرایا، اور اُس کا فیصلہ سُست رفتار نہیں ہے۔ ہاں، اُن کا منصف اونگھ نہیں رہا بلکہ اُنہیں ہلاک کرنے کے لئے تیار کھڑا ہے۔4 دیکھیں، اللہ نے اُن فرشتوں کو بچنے نہ دیا جنہوں نے گناہ کیا بلکہ اُنہیں تاریکی کی زنجیروں میں باندھ کر جہنم میں ڈال دیا جہاں وہ عدالت کے دن تک محفوظ رہیں گے۔5 اِسی طرح اُس نے قدیم دنیا کو بچنے نہ دیا بلکہ اُس کے بےدین باشندوں پر سیلاب کو آنے دیا۔ اُس نے صرف راست بازی کے پیغمبر نوح کو سات اَور جانوں سمیت بچایا۔6 اور اُس نے سدوم اور عمورہ کے شہروں کو مجرم قرار دے کر راکھ کر دیا۔ یوں اللہ نے اُنہیں عبرت بنا کر دکھایا کہ بےدینوں کے ساتھ کیا کچھ کیا جائے گا۔7 ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے لوط کو بچایا جو راست باز تھا اور بےاصول لوگوں کے گندے چال چلن دیکھ دیکھ کر پِستا رہا۔8 کیونکہ یہ راست باز آدمی اُن کے درمیان بستا تھا، اور اُس کی راست باز جان روز بہ روز اُن کی شریر حرکتیں دیکھ اور سن کر سخت عذاب میں پھنسی رہی۔9 یوں ظاہر ہے کہ رب دین دار لوگوں کو آزمائش سے بچانا اور بےدینوں کو عدالت کے دن تک سزا کے تحت رکھنا جانتا ہے،10 خاص کر اُنہیں جو اپنے جسم کی گندی خواہشات کے پیچھے لگے رہتے اور خداوند کے اختیار کو حقیر جانتے ہیں۔ یہ لوگ گستاخ اور مغرور ہیں اور جلالی ہستیوں پر کفر بکنے سے نہیں ڈرتے۔11 اِس کے مقابلے میں فرشتے بھی جو کہیں زیادہ طاقت ور اور قوی ہیں رب کے حضور ایسی ہستیوں پر بہتان اور الزامات لگانے کی جرٲت نہیں کرتے۔12 لیکن یہ جھوٹے اُستاد بےعقل جانوروں کی مانند ہیں، جو فطری طور پر اِس لئے پیدا ہوئے ہیں کہ اُنہیں پکڑا اور ختم کیا جائے۔ جو کچھ وہ نہیں سمجھتے اُس پر وہ کفر بکتے ہیں۔ اور جنگلی جانوروں کی طرح وہ بھی ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔13 یوں جو نقصان اُنہوں نے دوسروں کو پہنچایا وہی اُنہیں خود بھگتنا پڑے گا۔ اُن کے نزدیک لطف اُٹھانے سے مراد یہ ہے کہ دن کے وقت کھل کر عیش کریں۔ وہ داغ اور دھبے ہیں جو آپ کی ضیافتوں میں شریک ہو کر اپنی دغابازیوں کی رنگ رلیاں مناتے ہیں۔14 اُن کی آنکھیں ہر وقت کسی بدکار عورت سے زنا کرنے کی تلاش میں رہتی ہیں اور گناہ کرنے سے کبھی نہیں رکتیں۔ وہ کمزور لوگوں کو غلط کام کرنے کے لئے اُکساتے اور لالچ کرنے میں ماہر ہیں۔ اُن پر اللہ کی لعنت!15 وہ صحیح راہ سے ہٹ کر آوارہ پھر رہے اور بلعام بن بعور کے نقشِ قدم پر چل رہے ہیں، کیونکہ بلعام نے پیسوں کے لالچ میں غلط کام کیا۔16 لیکن گدھی نے اُسے اِس گناہ کے سبب سے ڈانٹا۔ اِس جانور نے جو بولنے کے قابل نہیں تھا انسان کی سی آواز میں بات کی اور نبی کو اُس کی دیوانگی سے روک دیا۔17 یہ لوگ سوکھے ہوئے چشمے اور آندھی سے دھکیلے ہوئے بادل ہیں۔ اِن کی تقدیر اندھیرے کا تاریک ترین حصہ ہے۔18 یہ مغرور باتیں کرتے ہیں جن کے پیچھے کچھ نہیں ہے اور غیراخلاقی جسمانی شہوتوں سے ایسے لوگوں کو اُکساتے ہیں جو حال ہی میں دھوکے کی زندگی گزارنے والوں میں سے بچ نکلے ہیں۔19 یہ اُنہیں آزاد کرنے کا وعدہ کرتے ہیں جبکہ خود بدکاری کے غلام ہیں۔ کیونکہ انسان اُسی کا غلام ہے جو اُس پر غالب آ گیا ہے۔20 اور جو ہمارے خداوند اور نجات دہندہ عیسیٰ مسیح کو جان لینے سے اِس دنیا کی آلودگی سے بچ نکلتے ہیں، لیکن بعد میں ایک بار پھر اِس میں پھنس کر مغلوب ہو جاتے ہیں اُن کا انجام پہلے کی نسبت زیادہ بُرا ہو جاتا ہے۔21 ہاں، جن لوگوں نے راست بازی کی راہ کو جان لیا، لیکن بعد میں اُس مُقدّس حکم سے منہ پھیر لیا جو اُن کے حوالے کیا گیا تھا، اُن کے لئے بہتر ہوتا کہ وہ اِس راہ سے کبھی واقف نہ ہوتے۔22 اُن پر یہ محاورہ صادق آتا ہے کہ ”کتا اپنی قَے کے پاس واپس آ جاتا ہے۔“ اور یہ بھی کہ ”سؤرنی نہانے کے بعد دوبارہ کیچڑ میں لوٹنے لگتی ہے۔“

1 But there arose false prophets also among the people, as among you also there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.2 And many shall follow their lascivious doings; by reason of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of.3 And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.4 For if God spared not angels when they sinned, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;5 and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those that should live ungodly;7 and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their lawless deeds):9 the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of judgment;10 but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise dominion. Daring, self-willed, they tremble not to rail at dignities:11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, bring not a railing judgment against them before the Lord.12 But these, as creatures without reason, born mere animals to be taken and destroyed, railing in matters whereof they are ignorant, shall in their destroying surely be destroyed,13 suffering wrong as the hire of wrong-doing; men that count it pleasure to revel in the day-time, spots and blemishes, revelling in their deceivings while they feast with you;14 having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstedfast souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; children of cursing;15 forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the hire of wrong-doing;16 but he was rebuked for his own transgression: a dumb ass spake with man’s voice and stayed the madness of the prophet.17 These are springs without water, and mists driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness hath been reserved.18 For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error;19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage.20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.21 For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them.22 It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.
