2 Sa-mu-ên 9

1 Bấy giờ, Đa-vít nói rằng: Có người nào của nhà Sau-lơ còn sống chăng? Ta muốn vì cớ Giô-na-than mà làm ơn cho người.2 Vả, có một tôi tớ của nhà Sau-lơ, tên là Xíp-ba; người ta gọi nó đến cùng Đa-vít. Vua hỏi: Ngươi là Xíp-ba chăng? Người thưa: Phải, ấy là tôi, kẻ đầy tớ vua.3 Vua tiếp rằng: Chẳng còn có người nào về nhà Sau-lơ sao? Ta muốn lấy ơn của Đức Chúa Trời mà đãi người. Xíp-ba thưa cùng vua rằng: Còn một người con trai của Giô-na-than bị tật hai chân.4 Vua hỏi rằng: Người ở đâu? Xíp-ba thưa rằng: Người ở trong nhà Ma-ki, con trai A-mi-ên, tại Lô-đê-ba.5 Vua Đa-vít bèn sai tới nhà Ma-ki, con trai A-mi-ên, tại Lô-đê-ba, mà đòi người đến.6 Khi Mê-phi-bô-sết, con trai của Giô-na-than, cháu Sau-lơ, đã đến bên Đa-vít, thì sấp mình xuống đất và lạy. Đa-vít nói: Ớ Mê-phi-bô-sết! Người thưa: Có tôi tớ vua đây.7 Đa-vít nói cùng người rằng: Chớ sợ; ta muốn làm ơn cho ngươi vì cớ Giô-na-than, cha ngươi; ta sẽ trả lại cho ngươi những đất của Sau-lơ, ông nội ngươi, và ngươi sẽ ăn chung bàn ta luôn luôn.8 Mê-phi-bô-sết bèn lạy, mà nói rằng: Kẻ tôi tớ vua là gì, mà vua lại đoái mắt đến một con chó chết, như tôi đây?9 Vua bèn gọi Xíp-ba, tôi tớ của Sau-lơ, mà nói rằng: Ta đã ban cho con trai chủ ngươi mọi tài sản thuộc về Sau-lơ và nhà người.10 Vậy, ngươi cùng các con trai và tôi tớ ngươi phải cày đất đó cho người, rồi nộp hoa lợi đất sanh sản, hầu cho con trai chủ ngươi có bánh ăn. Mê-phi-bô-sết, con trai chủ ngươi, sẽ ăn chung bàn ta luôn luôn. Vả Xíp-ba có mười lăm con trai và hai mươi tôi tớ.11 Xíp-ba thưa cùng vua rằng: Kẻ tôi tớ vua sẽ làm mọi điều vua chúa tôi dặn biểu. Ấy vậy, Mê-phi-bô-sết ăn chung bàn Đa-vít như một con trai của vua vậy.12 Mê-phi-bô-sết có một con trai nhỏ, tên là Mi-ca; và hết thảy những người ở trong nhà Xíp-ba đều là tôi tớ của Mê-phi-bô-sết.13 Mê-phi-bô-sết ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, bởi vì người ăn luôn chung bàn của vua. Người bị què hai chân.

2 Samuel 9

David Finds Mephibosheth

1 s Then David asked, “Is anyone still left from the familyt of Saul, so that I may extend kindness to him for the sake of Jonathan?”
2 Now there was a servant from Saul’s house named Ziba, so he was summoned to David. The king asked him, “Are you Ziba?” He replied, “At your service.”t3 The king asked, “Is there not someone left from Saul’s family,t that I may extend God’s kindness to him?” Ziba said to the king, “One of Jonathan’s sons is left; both of his feet are crippled.”

4 The king asked him, “Where is he?” Ziba told the king, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.
5 So King David had him broughtt from the house of Makir son of Ammiel int Lo Debar.

6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed low with his face toward the ground.t David said, “Mephibosheth?” He replied, “Yes, at your service.”t
7 David said to him, “Don’t be afraid, because I will certainly extend kindness to you for the sake of Jonathan your father. You will be a regular guest at my table.”t

8 Then Mephiboshetht bowed and said, “Of what importance am I, your servant, that you show regard for a dead dog like me?”t
9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s attendant, and said to him, “Everything that belonged to Saul and to his entire house I hereby give to your master’s grandson.

10 You will cultivatet the land for him – you and your sons and your servants. You will bring its producet and it will bes food for your master’s grandson to eat.t But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, will be a regular guest at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)

11 Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do everything that my lord the king has instructed his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth was a regular guestt at David’s table,s just as though he were one of the king’s sons.
12 Now Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica. All the members of Ziba’s household were Mephibosheth’s servants.

13 Mephibosheth was living in Jerusalem,s for he was a regular guest at the king’s table. But both his feet were crippled.
