2 Thessalonikerbreve 1

Hälsning

1 Från Paulus, Silvanust och Timotheos.
Till församlingen i Thessalonike som lever i gemenskap med Gud, vår Far, och Herren Jesus Kristust.

2 Vi ber att Gud Fadern och Herren Jesus Kristus ska visa er godhet och fylla er med frid.

Uppmuntran under förföljelse

3 Kära syskont, vi måste alltid tacka Gud för er, och det finns goda skäl till det, för er tro fortsätter att växa, och er kärlek till varandra blir hela tiden större.4 Därför berättar vi med stolthet om er i Guds församlingar, om er uthållighet och er tro mitt under alla de förföljelser och lidanden som drabbar er.5-6 Men Gud kommer att använda dessa lidanden för att visa sin rättvisa dom. De som plågar er ska få sitt straff, medan ni som lider på grund av er tro ska få tillhöra Guds eget folk för evigt.7 Ja, ni som lider nu ska få vila ut. Gud ska befria både er och oss från lidande den dag Herren Jesus kommer tillbaka från Gud i himlen och visar sig med sina mäktiga änglar.8 Han kommer i flammande eld för att döma dem som inte vill veta av Gud och som vägrar att ta emot det glada budskapet om räddning genom vår Herre Jesus.9 Dessa människor ska straffas genom att gå evigt förlorade och skiljas från Herren och hans makt och härlighet.

10 Men alla som tror på Herren och tillhör honom, ska ära och hylla honom när han kommer tillbaka. Och ni tillhör Herren, eftersom ni har trott på vårt budskap.
11 Därför ber vi alltid till vår Gud att han ska hjälpa er att leva på ett sätt som är värdigt dem som är inbjudna att tillhöra honom. Ja, vi ber att han ska ge er kraft att genomföra allt det goda ni vill göra på grund av er tro.

12 Genom detta blir Herren Jesus ärad, och ni blir ärade av honom. Och allt sker tack vare den kärlek och förlåtelse vi har fått från vår Gud och från vår Herre Jesus Kristus.

Thanksgiving

3 We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters,t and rightly so,t because your faith flourishes more and more and the love of each one of you all for one another is ever greater.

4 As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.

Encouragement in Persecution

5 This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthyt of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering.6 For it is rightt for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,7 and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealedt from heaven with his mighty angels.t8 With flaming fire he will mete outtpunishment on those who do not know Gods and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.9 Theyt will undergo the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,ts10 when he comes to be glorified among his saints and admiredt on that day among all who have believed – and you did in fact believe our testimony.t11 And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his callingt and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith,

12 that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according tot the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
