EPISTOLA DI S. PAOLO II A'~TESSALONICESI 1

Soprascritta e saluti

1 PAOLO, e Silvano, e Timoteo, alla chiesa de'~Tessalonicesit, che è in Dio, nostro Padre; e nel Signor Gesù Cristo.

2 Grazia a voi, e pace, da Dio nostro Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristot.

Progressi e costanza dei Tessalonicesi in fede e carità, ad onta delle persecuzioni, delle quali Dio farà giudicio


3 NOI siamo obbligati di render sempre grazie di voi a Diot, fratelli, come egli è ben convenevole; perciocchè la vostra fede cresce sommamente, e la carità di ciascun di tutti voi abbonda fra voi scambievolmente. 4 Talchè noi stessi ci gloriamo di voit, nelle chiese di Dio, per la vostra sofferenza, e fede, in tutte le vostre persecuzioni, ed afflizioni, che voi sostenetet. 5 Il che è una dimostrazione del giusto giudizio di Diot, acciocchè siate reputati degni del regno di Dio, per lo quale ancora patite. 6 Poichè è cosa giusta dinnanzi a Dio, di rendere afflizione a coloro che vi affliggonot; 7 ed a voi, che siete afflitti, requie con noit, quando il Signor Gesù Cristo apparirà dal cielo, con gli angeli della sua potenzat; 8 con fuoco fiammeggiantet, prendendo vendetta di coloro che non conoscono Iddio, e di coloro che non ubbidiscono all'evangelo del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo. 9 I quali porteranno la pena, la perdizione eterna, dalla faccia del Signoret, e dalla gloria della sua possanzat;

10 quando egli sarà venutot per esser glorificato ne'~suoi santi, e reso maraviglioso in tutti i credentit (poichè alla nostra testimonianza presso voi è stata prestata fede), in quel giorno.
11 Per la qual cosa ancora noi preghiamo del continuo per voi, che l'Iddio nostro vi faccia degni di questa vocazione, e compia tutto il beneplacito della sua bontà, e l'opera della fede, con potenza. 12 Acciocchè sia glorificato il nome del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo in voit, e voi in lui; secondo la grazia dell'Iddio nostro e del Signor Gesù Cristo.

2 Grace and peace to yout from God thes Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanksgiving

3 We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters,t and rightly so,t because your faith flourishes more and more and the love of each one of you all for one another is ever greater.

4 As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.

Encouragement in Persecution

5 This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthyt of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering.6 For it is rightt for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,7 and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealedt from heaven with his mighty angels.t8 With flaming fire he will mete outtpunishment on those who do not know Gods and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.9 Theyt will undergo the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his strength,ts10 when he comes to be glorified among his saints and admiredt on that day among all who have believed – and you did in fact believe our testimony.t11 And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his callingt and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith,

12 that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according tot the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
