Anschrift und Gruß

1 tPaulus, Silvanus und Timotheus schreiben diesen Brief an die Gemeinde in Thessalonich, die sich zu Gott, unserem Vater, und zu unserem Herrn Jesus Christus bekennt.

2 Wir wünschen euch Gnade und Frieden von Gott, dem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus.

Christus, der Retter und Richter

3 Liebe Brüder und Schwestern! Immer wieder müssen wir Gott für euch danken; wir können gar nicht anders, denn euer Glaube wächst ständig, ebenso eure Liebe zueinander.4 tWir sind stolz auf euch und stellen euch den anderen Gemeinden als leuchtendes Vorbild hin. Wie treu und standhaft ertragt ihr doch alle Verfolgungen und Leiden!5 Sie sind ein Vorzeichen für das kommende Gericht. Gott ist ein gerechter Richter. Er wird euch in seine neue Welt aufnehmen, für die ihr hier leidet.

6 tJa, Gottes Urteil ist gerecht. Deshalb wird er alle bestrafen, die euch jetzt verfolgen.7 tEr wird eure Not beenden, und auch wir werden nicht länger leiden müssen, wenn Jesus als der Herr mit allen seinen mächtigen Engeln vom Himmel kommen wird.8 tWie ein vernichtendes Feuer wird sein Urteil alle treffen, die von Gott nichts wissen wollen und die rettende Botschaft von Jesus, unserem Herrn, ablehnen.9 Sie werden dem ewigen Verderben ausgeliefert sein; für immer von unserem Herrn getrennt, ausgeschlossen aus seinem herrlichen Reich.10 tDie aber zu ihm gehören, werden ihn an jenem Tag anbeten, und alle, die an ihn glauben, werden ihm voller Freude zujubeln. Und auch ihr werdet dabei sein, weil ihr der Botschaft vertraut habt, die wir euch gebracht haben.

Wir beten für euch

11 tDeshalb beten wir immer wieder für euch, dass ihr so lebt, wie man es von Menschen erwarten kann, die von Gott auserwählt sind. Wir bitten Gott, dass es nicht bei eurem guten Willen bleibt, sondern dass ihr auch Taten folgen lasst. Alles, was ihr im Glauben begonnen habt, sollt ihr durch Gottes Kraft auch vollenden.

12 Dann wird durch euch der Name unseres Herrn Jesus gerühmt und geehrt. Und ebenso gelangt ihr auch bei ihm zu Ehren, denn unser Gott und unser Herr Jesus Christus haben euch Barmherzigkeit erwiesen.

2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ;2 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 We are bound to give thanks to God always to you, brethren, even as it is meet, for that your faith growth exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all toward one another aboundeth;4 so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which ye endure;5 which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:6 if so be that it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you,7 and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire,8 rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:9 who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,10 when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.11 To which end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfil every desire of goodness and every work of faith, with power;12 that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
