2 TESSALONISENSE 1

1 Hierdie brief kom van Paulus, Silvanus en Timoteus.
Ons skryf aan die gemeente in Tessalonika wat aan God ons Vader en die Here Jesus Christus verbonde is.

2 Mag die genade en vrede van God ons Vader en van die Here Jesus Christus met julle wees.

Julle moet onder vervolging volhard

3 Broers en susters, dit is gepas dat ons altyd vir God dankie sal sê vir julle, want julle geloof hou net aan groei en julle almal se liefde vir mekaar word net groter!

4 Gevolglik vertel ons self met trots in God se gemeentes hoe julle volhard en glo onder al die vervolging en swaarkry wat julle verduur.

5 God sal die dinge wat julle deurmaak, gebruik om te wys dat Hy regverdig oordeel. Dit sal daarop uitloop dat julle waardig beskou sal word om in God se koningsheerskappy te deel. Dit is hiervoor dat julle ly.
6 God is inderdaad regverdig: Hy sal julle verdrukkers met verdrukking terugbetaal.

7 Hy sal rus gee aan julle wat verdruk word - en ook aan ons. Dit sal gebeur wanneer die Here Jesus met sy magtige engele vanuit die hemel verskyn.
8 In 'n vlammende vuur sal Hy die mense straf wat God nie ken nie; dit is húlle wat hulle nie gesteur het aan die Goeie Nuus van ons Here Jesus nie.9 Hulle sal met ewige vernietiging gestraf word, weg van die Here se teenwoordigheid en sy heerlike mag af.

10 Op daardie dag kom Hy om verheerlik te word deur dié wat aan Hom behoort en om bewonder te word deur almal wat tot geloof gekom het - ook deur julle, want julle het ons getuienis geglo!
11 Met dit in gedagte bid ons altyd vir julle. Mag ons God julle waardig maak vir die lewe waartoe Hy julle geroep het. Mag Hy elke goeie voorneme en geloofsdaad met krag tot volkome uitvoering bring.

12 So sal die Naam van ons Here Jesus verheerlik word deur wat julle doen. En júlle sal deur Hom verheerlik word op grond van die genade van ons God en die Here Jesus Christus.

2 THESSALONIANS 1

1  t From Paul, Silas, t and Timothy.
To the church in Thessalonica, the people of God our Father and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

When Christ Returns

4 This is why we brag about you to all of God's churches. We tell them how patient you are and how you keep on having faith, even though you are going through a lot of trouble and suffering.
5 All this shows that God judges fairly and is making you fit to share in his kingdom for which you are suffering. 6 It is only right for God to punish everyone who is causing you trouble, 7 but he will give you relief from your troubles. God will do the same for us, when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with his powerful angels

8 and with a flaming fire.
Our Lord Jesus will punish anyone who doesn't know God and won't obey his message. 9 t Their punishment will be eternal destruction, and they will be kept far from the presence of our Lord and his glorious strength.

10 This will happen on the day when the Lord returns to be praised and honored by all who have faith in him and belong to him. This includes you, because you believed what we said.
11 God chose you, and we keep praying that God will make you worthy of being his people. We pray for God's power to help you do all the good things you hope to do and your faith makes you want to do. 12 Then, because of the undeserved grace of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, you will bring honor to the name of our Lord Jesus, and he will bring honor to you.
