テモテヘの第二の手紙 1

一

1-2 キリスト・イエスを信じる者に神様が約束された永遠のいのちを、人々に伝えるために遣わされた、キリスト・イエスの宣教者パウロから、愛するテモテへ。　どうか、父なる神と主キリスト・イエスが、恵みとあわれみと平安とを、あなたに注いでくださいますように。
3 テモテよ。　私はあなたのことを、どんなに神様に感謝しているか知れません。　毎日、あなたのために祈り、長い夜も、何度となく思い出しては、どうかあなたに祝福があるように、と願い求めています。　神様は、先祖代々の神であり、また、私の神です。　そして、この神様に喜んでいただくことだけが、私の生きがいなのです。
4 私は、ぜひもう一度あなたに会いたい、と願っています。　この願いがかなえられたら、跳び上がって喜ぶことでしょう。　今でも、あの別れの時の、涙にくれたあなたの姿が、まぶたに焼きついているのです。
5 あなたの主に対する熱心な信仰は、お母さんのユニケやおばあさんのロイスに少しも劣らないことを、私はよく知っています。　そして、今でもその信仰は変わらないと信じています。
6 ですから、お願いしたいのです。　私があなたの頭に手を置いて祈った時、うちに注ぎ込まれた力と勇気を、もう一度、奮い起こしなさい。　7 なぜなら、神様が遣わされた聖霊様は、人を恐れず、知恵と力とをみなぎらせ、人を愛し、喜んで人と共に歩むことを、要求なさるからです。　8 もしあなたが、この力を奮い起こすなら、主について人前で語るのをためらったり、キリスト様のゆえに牢獄につながれている私のことを、恥じたりしなくなるでしょう。　それどころか、私と共に苦しむ覚悟ができるはずです。　神様は、苦しみのただ中にあっても、力を与えてくださるのですから。
9 神様は私たちを救い、そのきよい仕事に任命するため、選んでくださいました。　それは、私たちにその仕事をする資格があったからではなく、何もかも、この世が始まる前から、神様によって決められていたことなのです。　それによって、愛とあわれみを、キリスト様を通して私たちに示そうとされたのです。　10 そして、救い主キリスト・イエスが地上に来られた今、神様は、その計画の全貌を明らかにしてくださいました。　キリスト様は死の力を打ち破り、ご自分を信頼する者に、永遠のいのちに至る道を切り開いてくださったのです。　11 そして神様は私を、この良い知らせを外国人に宣べ伝え、教える使者にお選びになったのです。
12 そのため、私はいま獄中で苦しんでいるのです。　しかし、それを少しも恥とは思いません。　なぜなら、自分が、どなたを信頼しているのかよく知っており、またその方は、お任せしたものをみな、再び来られるその日まで、安全に守ってくださる、と確信しているからです。
13 私が教えた真理、特にキリスト・イエスが与えてくださった信仰と愛とを、しっかり握っていなさい。　14 あなたのすばらしい才能は、うちに住んでおられる聖霊様からの贈り物ですから、十分に注意して守りなさい。
15 ご存じのとおり、アジヤから来たクリスチャンは、みな私を捨てて行きました。　フゲロとヘルモゲネでさえ、離れて行ったのです。　16 どうか主が、オネシポロとその家族とを、祝福してくださいますように。　彼は、たびたび私を訪ね、励ましてくれました。　彼が来るたびに、新鮮な空気を胸いっぱい吸い込んだように、たいそう元気づけられたのです。　しかも彼は、私が獄中にいることを、少しも恥ずかしいこととは思いませんでした。　17 その証拠に、彼はローマに着くとすぐ、あちこち捜し歩いて、ついに私を訪ねあててくれたのです。　18 どうか、再びキリスト様のおいでになる日に、主が、彼を特別に祝福してくださいますように。　エペソでの彼の献身ぶりは、あなたのほうがよく知っています。

2 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,2 to Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers in a pure conscience, how unceasing is my remembrance of thee in my supplications, night and day4 longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;5 having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in thee; which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and, I am persuaded, in thee also.6 For which cause I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee through the laying on of my hands.7 For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.8 Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but suffer hardship with the gospel according to the power of God;9 who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,10 but hath now been manifested by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,11 whereunto I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher.12 For which cause I suffer also these things: yet I am not ashamed; for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed unto him against that day.13 Hold the pattern of sound words which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.14 That good thing which was committed unto thee guard through the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in us.15 This thou knowest, that all that are in Asia turned away from me; of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 The Lord grant mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;17 but, when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me18 (the Lord grant unto him to find mercy of the Lord in that day); and in how many things he ministered at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
