2 Timoteo 1
Segunda carta a
1-2 Estimado hijo Timoteo:
Te saludo yo, Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por voluntad de Dios para anunciar la promesa de la vida eterna por medio de Jesucristo.
Que la paz, la misericordia y las bendiciones de Dios Padre y nuestro Señor Jesucristo estén contigo.
Agradecimientos
3 Siempre te recuerdo en mis oraciones, de día y de noche doy gracias a Dios por ti. Al igual que mis antepasados, sirvo a Dios con conciencia limpia.4 Cuando recuerdo tus lágrimas por mí, quisiera verte. ¡Qué feliz me haría!5 Recuerdo tu fe sincera, como la que tuvo primero tu abuela Loida, luego tu mamá Eunice y estoy seguro de que tú también la tienes.6 Por eso quiero que reavives el fuego del don que Dios te dio cuando te impuse las manos.t
7 Porque el Espíritu que Dios nos ha dado no nos hace cobardes, sino que él es para nosotros fuente de poder, amor y buen juicio.
8 De manera que no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor Jesús. Tampoco te avergüences de mí, prisionero por servir a su causa. Más bien, comparte conmigo el sufrimiento por la buena noticiat de salvación con el poder que Dios nos da para soportarlo.9 Dios nos salvó y nos llamó a ser su pueblo santot. No lo hizo por lo bueno que habíamos hecho, sino porque así lo quiso por su generoso amort. Ese amor nos lo dio antes del inicio del tiempo mediante Jesucristo.
10 Pero ahora nos ha sido mostrado ese amor por medio de la venida de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, quien destruyó la muerte y ha dado a conocer la manera de tener vida eternat por medio de la buena noticia.
11 Dios me nombró apóstol y maestro para anunciar la buena noticia.
12 Por eso ahora estoy sufriendo a causa de esa buena noticia, pero no me avergüenzo. Sé muy bien en quién he confiado y estoy seguro de que él puede guardar hasta ese díat todo lo que ha puesto en mis manos.
13 Sigue la enseñanza que te di como ejemplo, pues conduce a una vida recta; mantenla con la fe y el amor que tenemos como seguidores de Jesucristo.
14 Esa enseñanza es un tesoro que se te ha confiado, así que guárdalo con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que vive en nosotros.
15 Tú sabes que todos los de la provincia de Asiat me abandonaron, incluso Figelo y Hermógenes.16 Pido al Señor que muestre su misericordia a la familia de Onesíforo quien me animó muchas veces. Él no se avergonzó de que yo estuviera en prisión.17 Al contrario, cuando llegó a Roma me buscó por todas partes hasta encontrarme.
18 Que el Señor Jesús le permita encontrar misericordia del Señor Dios en aquel día. Tú sabes cuánto me ayudó Onesíforo cuando estuve en Éfeso.
2 Timothy 1
Timothy Charged to Guard His Trust
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my beloved son: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day,4 longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.5 For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.6 For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,11 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher.12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.13 Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.
15 You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;17 but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me-18 the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on that day-and you know very well what services he rendered at Ephesus.
