אגרת פולוס השנייה אל-טימותיוס 1

א

1 מאת פולוס שליח המשיח, אשר נבחר על-ידי אלוהים לבשר לבני-האדם את דבר חיי-הנצח, שהבטיח להם באמצעות האמונה בישוע המשיח.

2 אל טימותיוס, בני היקר.
מי ייתן שהאלוהים אבינו וישוע המשיח אדוננו יברך אותך בחסד, ברחמים, בשלום ובשלווה.

3 אני מודה לאלוהים בעדך, טימותיוס. יומם ולילה אני מתפלל בעדך ומבקש מאלוהים לברך אותך. זהו אלוהי אבותיי, ומטרתי האחת בחיים היא לעשות את הטוב בעיניו.

4 אני כל-כך מתגעגע אליך! אני עדיין זוכר את הדמעות שזלגו מעיניך כשנפרדנו. מה אשמח לשוב ולראותך!

5 אני יודע שאמונתך באדוננו כנה ורצינית, כאמונתן של אמך אבניקי ושל סבתך לואיס, ואני בטוח שהיא חזקה כתמיד.

6 משום כך אני מזכיר לך לעורר את מתנת האלוהים שנמצאת בקרבך, ואשר ניתנה לך כשסמכתי את ידי עליך.

7 שכן האלוהים לא נתן לנו רוח של פחד, אלא של גבורה, אהבה ומשמעת-עצמית.

8 אם אכן תעורר את המתנה הרוחנית הזאת, לא תתבייש לספר לאחרים על אודות אדוננו, ולמרות היותי כאן בכלא למען ישוע המשיח, לא תתבייש שמא ידעו שאני ידידך, אלא תהיה מוכן לסבול יחד איתי למען האדון, שכן הוא יעניק לך כוח וסבלנות לסבול למענו.

9 אלוהים הושיע אותנו ובחר בנו לעבודתו הקדושה לא משום שהיינו ראויים לכך, אלא משום שזו הייתה תוכניתו עוד לפני בריאת העולם; הוא רצה להראות לנו את טוב לבו ואהבתו באמצעות ישוע המשיח.

10 אלוהים גילה לנו דברים אלה על-ידי בואו של ישוע המשיח מושיענו, אשר ניצח את המוות והראה לנו את הדרך לחיי נצח על-ידי אמונה בו.

11 אלוהים בחר בי להיות שליחו כדי שאבשר לגויים את הבשורה הזאת, וכדי שאלמד אותם את דבר ה'.

12 מסיבה זאת אני סובל כאן בכלא, אך איני מתבייש בכך, כי אני יודע במי אני מאמין, ואני בטוח שהוא מסוגל לשמור היטב על אשר הפקדתי בידו עד יום שובו.

13 נהג לפי דברי האמת שלימדתי אותך, ובמיוחד במה שנוגע לאמונה ולאהבה שהעניק לך המשיח.

14 בעזרת רוח הקודש ששוכן בקרבך שמור היטב על האוצר שהופקד בידך.

15 אתה יודע שכל המאמינים אשר באו לכאן מאסיה נטשו אותי; אפילו פוגלוס והרמוגניס הלכו להם.

16 רק אוניסיפורוס ביקר אותי פעמים רבות; הוא מעולם לא התבייש בעובדת היותי בכלא. ביקוריו ממש השיבו את רוחי, ולכן יברך האלוהים אותו ואת משפחתו.

17 למעשה, בהגיעו לרומא הוא חיפש אותי בכל מקום, עד שלבסוף מצאני.

18 אתה יודע היטב כמה עזר לי אוניסיפורוס באפסוס. יברך אותו האלוהים בברכה מיוחדת ביום שובו של המשיח.

2 Timothy 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,

2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy

3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.

5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts

14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.

18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
