2 Timoteus 1

1 Pavel, apoštol Ježíše Krista, skrze vůli Boží, podle zaslíbení života, kterýž jest v Kristu Ježíši,2 Timoteovi milému synu: Milost, milosrdenství a pokoj od Boha Otce a Krista Ježíše Pána našeho.3 Díky činím Bohu, jemuž sloužím, jako i předkové moji, v svědomí čistém, z toho, že mám na tě ustavičnou pamět na svých modlitbách ve dne i v noci,4 Žádaje viděti tebe, zpomínaje na tvé slzy, abych radostí naplněn byl,5 Rozpomínaje se na tu víru, kteráž v tobě jest bez pokrytství, kteráž byla nejprv v bábě tvé Loidě, a v matce tvé Eunice, a tak smyslím, že i v tobě.6 Pro kteroužto příčinu napomínám tebe, abys rozněcoval v sobě dar Boží, kterýžť jest dán skrze vzkládání rukou mých.7 Nebo nedal nám Bůh ducha bázně, ale moci, a milování, a mysli způsobné.8 Protož nestyď se za svědectví Pána našeho, ani za mne, vězně jeho, ale čitedlen buď úzkostí přicházejících pro evangelium podle moci Boží,9 Kterýž spasil nás, a povolal povoláním svatým, ne podle skutků našich, ale podle uložení svého a milosti nám dané v Kristu Ježíši před časy věků,10 Nyní pak teprv zjevené skrze příští Spasitele našeho Jezukrista, kterýž zahladil smrt, život pak na světlo vyvedl, i nesmrtelnost skrze evangelium,11 Jehožto já ustanoven jsem kazatelem, a apoštolem, i učitelem pohanů.12 A pro tu příčinu toto všecko trpím, ale nestydímť se za to; nebo vím, komu jsem uvěřil, a jist jsem tím, že mocen jest toho, což jsem u něho složil, ostříhati až do onoho dne.13 Mějž jistý příklad zdravých řečí, kteréž jsi slýchal ode mne, u víře a v lásce, kteráž jest v Kristu Ježíši.14 Výborného toho pokladu ostříhej, skrze Ducha svatého přebývajícího v nás.15 Víš snad o tom, že se odvrátili ode mne všickni, kteříž jsou v Azii, z nichžto jest Fygellus a Hermogenes.16 Dejž milosrdenství Pán domu Oneziforovu; nebo často mi činil pohodlí, aniž se styděl za řetězy mé.17 Nýbrž přišed do Říma, pilně mne hledal, a nalezl.18 Dejž jemu Pán nalézti milosrdenství u Pána v onen den. A jak mi mnoho posluhoval v Efezu, ty výborně víš.

2 Timothy 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,

2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy

3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.

5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts

14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.

18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
