2. Timotheus 1

1 Paulus, Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes Willen, nach Verheißung des Lebens, das in Christo Jesu ist,2 Timotheus, meinem geliebten Kinde: Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und Christo Jesu, unserem Herrn!3 Ich danke Gott, dem ich von meinen Voreltern her mit reinem Gewissen diene, wie unablässig ich deiner gedenke in meinen Gebeten, Nacht und Tag,4 voll Verlangen, dich zu sehen, indem ich eingedenk bin deiner Tränen, auf daß ich mit Freude erfüllt sein möge;5 indem ich mich erinnere des ungeheuchelten Glaubens in dir, der zuerst wohnte in deiner Großmutter Lois und deiner Mutter Eunike, ich bin aber überzeugt, auch in dir.6 Um welcher Ursache willen ich dich erinnere, die Gnadengabe Gottes anzufachen, die in dir ist durch das Auflegen meiner Hände.7 Denn Gott hat uns nicht einen Geist der Furchtsamkeit gegeben, sondern der Kraft und der Liebe und der Besonnenheit.8 So schäme dich nun nicht des Zeugnisses unseres Herrn noch meiner, seines Gefangenen, sondern leide Trübsal mit dem Evangelium, nach der Kraft Gottes;9 der uns errettet hat und berufen mit heiligem Rufe, nicht nach unseren Werken, sondern nach seinem eigenen Vorsatz und der Gnade, die uns in Christo Jesu vor den Zeiten der Zeitalter gegeben,10 jetzt aber geoffenbart worden ist durch die Erscheinung unseres Heilandes Jesus Christus, welcher den Tod zunichte gemacht, aber Leben und Unverweslichkeit ans Licht gebracht hat durch das Evangelium,11 zu welchem ich bestellt worden bin als Herold und Apostel und Lehrer der Nationen.12 Um welcher Ursache willen ich dies auch leide; aber ich schäme mich nicht, denn ich weiß, wem ich geglaubt habe, und bin überzeugt, daß er mächtig ist, das ihm von mir anvertraute Gut auf jenen Tag zu bewahren.13 Halte fest das Bild gesunder Worte, die du von mir gehört hast, in Glauben und Liebe, die in Christo Jesu sind.14 Bewahre das schöne anvertraute Gut durch den Heiligen Geist, der in uns wohnt.15 Du weißt dieses, daß alle, die in Asien sind, sich von mir abgewandt haben, unter welchen Phygelus ist und Hermogenes.16 Der Herr gebe dem Hause des Onesiphorus Barmherzigkeit, denn er hat mich oft erquickt und sich meiner Kette nicht geschämt;17 sondern als er in Rom war, suchte er mich fleißig auf und fand mich.18 Der Herr gebe ihm, daß er von seiten des Herrn Barmherzigkeit finde an jenem Tage! Und wieviel er in Ephesus diente, weißt du am besten.

2 Timothy 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,

2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy

3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.

5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts

14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.

18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
