2 Timoteo 1

Saludos de Pablo

1  Yo, Pablo, elegido por la voluntad de Dios para ser apóstol de Cristo Jesús escribo esta carta. Fui enviado para contarles a otros acerca de la vida que él ha prometido mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús.

2 Le escribo a Timoteo, mi querido hijo.
Que Dios Padre y Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor te den gracia, misericordia y paz.

Animado a ser fiel

3 Timoteo, doy gracias a Dios por ti, al mismo Dios que sirvo con la conciencia limpia tal como lo hicieron mis antepasados. Día y noche te recuerdo constantemente en mis oraciones. 4 Tengo muchos deseos de volver a verte porque no me olvido de tus lágrimas cuando nos separamos. Y me llenaré de alegría cuando estemos juntos otra vez.

5 Me acuerdo de tu fe sincera, pues tú tienes la misma fe de la que primero estuvieron llenas tu abuela Loida y tu madre, Eunice, y sé que esa fe sigue firme en ti. 6 Por esta razón, te recuerdo que avives el fuego del don espiritual que Dios te dio cuando te impuse mis manos. 7 Pues Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor y timidez sino de poder, amor y autodisciplina.

8 Así que nunca te avergüences de contarles a otros acerca de nuestro Señor, ni te avergüences de mí, aun cuando estoy preso por él. Con las fuerzas que Dios te da prepárate para sufrir conmigo a causa de la Buena Noticia. 9 Pues Dios nos salvó y nos llamó para vivir una vida santa. No lo hizo porque lo mereciéramos, sino porque ése era su plan desde antes del comienzo del tiempo, para mostrarnos su gracia por medio de Cristo Jesús; 10 y ahora todo esto él nos lo ha hecho evidente mediante la venida de Cristo Jesús, nuestro Salvador. Destruyó el poder de la muerte e iluminó el camino a la vida y a la inmortalidad por medio de la Buena Noticia. 11 Y Dios me eligió para que sea predicador, apóstol y maestro de esta Buena Noticia.

12 Por eso estoy sufriendo aquí, en prisión; pero no me avergüenzo de ello, porque yo sé en quién he puesto mi confianza y estoy seguro de que él es capaz de guardar lo que le he confiadot hasta el día de su regreso.

13 Aférrate al modelo de la sana enseñanza que aprendiste de mí, un modelo formado por la fe y el amor que tienes en Cristo Jesús. 14 Mediante el poder del Espíritu Santo, quien vive en nosotros, guarda con sumo cuidado la preciosa verdad que se te confió.

15 Como tú sabes, todos los de la provincia de Asia me abandonaron, incluso Figelo y Hermógenes.

16 Que el Señor muestre una bondad especial con Onesíforo y toda su familia, porque él me visitó muchas veces y me dio ánimo. Jamás se avergonzó de que yo estuviera en cadenas. 17 Cuando vino a Roma, me buscó por todas partes hasta que me encontró. 18 Que el Señor le muestre una bondad especial el día que Cristo vuelva. Y tú bien sabes de cuánta ayuda fue en Éfeso.

2 TIMOTHY 1

1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus.
God himself chose me to be an apostle, and he gave me the promised life that Jesus Christ makes possible.

2  t Timothy, you are like a dear child to me. I pray that God our Father and our Lord Christ Jesus will be kind and merciful to you and will bless you with peace!

Do Not Be Ashamed //of the Lord

7 God's Spiritt doesn't make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.

8 Don't be ashamed to speak for our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, just because I am in jail for serving him. Use the power that comes from God and join with me in suffering for telling the good news.

9 God saved us and chose us
to be his holy people.
We did nothing
to deserve this,
but God planned it
because he is so kind.
Even before time began
God planned for Christ Jesus
to show kindness to us.

10 Now Christ Jesus has come
to offer us God's gift
of undeserved grace.
Christ our Savior defeated death
and brought us
the good news.
It shines like a light
and offers life
that never ends.
11  t My work is to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.t 12 This is why I am suffering now. But I am not ashamed! I know the one I have faith in, and I am sure he can guard until the last day what he has trusted me with.t 13 Now follow the example of the correct teaching I gave you, and let the faith and love of Christ Jesus be your model.

14 You have been trusted with a wonderful treasure. Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.

15 You know that everyone in Asia has turned against me, especially Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 I pray that the Lord will be kind to the family of Onesiphorus. He often cheered me up and wasn't ashamed of me when I was put in jail. 17 Then after he arrived in Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me. 18 I pray that the Lord Jesus will ask God to show mercy to Onesiphorus on the day of judgment. You know how much he helped me in Ephesus.
