Hälsning
1 Från Paulus, genom Guds vilja Kristi Jesu apostel enligt löftet om liv i Kristus Jesus,
2 till hans kära barn Timotheos. Nåd, barmhärtighet och frid från Gud fadern och Kristus Jesus, vår herre.Tack till Gud
3 Jag tackar Gud, som jag liksom mina förfäder tjänar med rent uppsåt, och minns dig ständigt i mina böner, dag och natt. 4 Jag minns dina tårar och längtar efter att få se dig igen för att fyllas av glädje.
5 Jag har blivit påmind om den uppriktiga tro som finns hos dig och som fanns redan hos din mormor Lois och din mor Eunike; jag är viss om att den finns också hos dig.En sund förkunnelse
6 Därför påminner jag dig om att du skall blåsa liv i den nådegåva från Gud som finns hos dig sedan jag lade mina händer på dig. 7 Ty Gud har inte gett oss modlöshetens ande utan kraftens, kärlekens och självbesinningens. 8 Skäms alltså inte för vittnesbördet om vår Herre och inte heller för mig som är fånge för hans skull, utan lid för evangeliet du också, med kraften från Gud. 9 Han har räddat oss och kallat oss med en helig kallelse, inte på grund av våra gärningar utan genom sitt beslut och sin nåd, som han skänkte oss i Kristus Jesus redan före tidens början 10 men som har blivit uppenbar nu när vår frälsare Kristus Jesus trätt fram. Han har utplånat döden och dragit liv och oförgänglighet fram i ljuset genom evangeliet, 11 för vilket jag har satts att vara förkunnare, apostel och lärare.
12 Därför måste jag utstå allt detta, men jag skäms inte, för jag vet vem jag tror på, och jag är viss om att det står i hans makt att bevara det som jag har fått mig anförtrott, ända fram till den dagen.
13 Ta det som du har hört av mig till mönster för en sund förkunnelse, i tro och kärlek genom Kristus Jesus.
14 Bevara genom den heliga anden som bor i oss det goda som har anförtrotts dig.Paulus ovänner och vänner
15 Som du vet har alla i Asien vänt sig bort ifrån mig, bland dem Fygelos och Hermogenes. 16 Måtte Herren förbarma sig över Onesiforos familj: han har ofta gett mig nytt mod och har inte skämts för mina bojor, 17 nej, när han kom till Rom sökte han ivrigt efter mig tills han fann mig — 18 måtte Herren låta honom finna barmhärtighet hos Herren Gud på den dagen. Och till vilken hjälp han var i Efesos, det vet du bättre än någon annan.
2 TIMOTHY 1
1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus.
God himself chose me to be an apostle, and he gave me the promised life that Jesus Christ makes possible.
2 t Timothy, you are like a dear child to me. I pray that God our Father and our Lord Christ Jesus will be kind and merciful to you and will bless you with peace!Do Not Be Ashamed //of the Lord
3 Night and day I mention you in my prayers. I am always grateful for you, as I pray to the God my ancestors and I have served with a clear conscience. 4 I remember how you cried, and I want to see you, because this would make me truly happy. 5 t I also remember the genuine faith of your mother Eunice. Your grandmother Lois had the same sort of faith, and I am sure you have it as well. 6 So I ask you to make full use of the gift God gave you when I placed my hands on you.t Use it well.
7 God's Spiritt doesn't make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.
8 Don't be ashamed to speak for our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, just because I am in jail for serving him. Use the power that comes from God and join with me in suffering for telling the good news.
9 God saved us and chose us
to be his holy people.
We did nothing
to deserve this,
but God planned it
because he is so kind.
Even before time began
God planned for Christ Jesus
to show kindness to us.
10 Now Christ Jesus has come
to offer us God's gift
of undeserved grace.
Christ our Savior defeated death
and brought us
the good news.
It shines like a light
and offers life
that never ends.
11 t My work is to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.t 12 This is why I am suffering now. But I am not ashamed! I know the one I have faith in, and I am sure he can guard until the last day what he has trusted me with.t 13 Now follow the example of the correct teaching I gave you, and let the faith and love of Christ Jesus be your model.
14 You have been trusted with a wonderful treasure. Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in Asia has turned against me, especially Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 I pray that the Lord will be kind to the family of Onesiphorus. He often cheered me up and wasn't ashamed of me when I was put in jail. 17 Then after he arrived in Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me. 18 I pray that the Lord Jesus will ask God to show mercy to Onesiphorus on the day of judgment. You know how much he helped me in Ephesus.
