2 Тимотей 1

1 Павел, апостол Ісуса Христа волею Божою, по обітницї життя, що в Христї Ісусї,2 Тимотею, любому синові: Благодать, милость, мир од Бога Отця, і Христа Ісуса, Господа нашого.3 Дякую Богу, котрому служу від прародителїв чистою совістю, що без перестанку згадую тебе в молитвах моїх ніч і день,4 бажаючи видїти тебе, памятаючи сльози твої, щоб сповнитись радощами,5 згадуючи нелицемірну віру твою, яка вселилась перше в бабу твою Лоїду і в матїр твою Євникию; певен же я, що і в тебе.6 З сієї ж причини нагадую тобі, щоб ти під'огрівав дар Божий, що маєш у собі через положеннє рук моїх.7 Бо дав нам Бог не духа страху, а (духа) сили і любови і здорового розуму.8 Оце ж не сором ся сьвідчення Господа нашого, анї мене, вязника Його, а страждай з благовістєм Христовим по силї Бога,9 що спас нас і покликав покликом сьвятим, не по дїлам нашим, а по своїй постанові і благодатї, даній нам у Христї Ісусї перше часів вічних,10 тепер же обявленій через явленнє Спасителя нашого Ісуса Христа, що зруйнував смерть і осияв життє і нетлїннє благовістєм,11 для котрого поставлений я проповідником і апостолом і учителем поган.12 З сієї ж причини я й се терплю; тілько ж не соромлюсь, знаю бо, в кого увірував, і певен, що силен Він переказ мій схоронити до того дня.13 Май приклад здорових словес, котрі від мене чув єси, у вірі і любові, що в Христї Ісусї.14 Добре завіщаннє схорони Духом сьвятим, що живе в нас.15 Ти знаєш се, що одвернулись од мене всї, що в Азиї; а між ними Фигел і Гермоген.16 Нехай же дасть милость Господь Онисифоровому дому, бо він часто мене впокоював, і кайданів моїх не соромив ся;17 а бувши в Римі, дуже пильно шукав мене, та й знайшов.18 Нехай дасть йому Господь знайти милость Господню в той день. А скілько услугував менї в Єфесї, ти лучче знаєш.

2 TIMOTHY 1

1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus.
God himself chose me to be an apostle, and he gave me the promised life that Jesus Christ makes possible.

2  t Timothy, you are like a dear child to me. I pray that God our Father and our Lord Christ Jesus will be kind and merciful to you and will bless you with peace!

Do Not Be Ashamed //of the Lord

7 God's Spiritt doesn't make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.

8 Don't be ashamed to speak for our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, just because I am in jail for serving him. Use the power that comes from God and join with me in suffering for telling the good news.

9 God saved us and chose us
to be his holy people.
We did nothing
to deserve this,
but God planned it
because he is so kind.
Even before time began
God planned for Christ Jesus
to show kindness to us.

10 Now Christ Jesus has come
to offer us God's gift
of undeserved grace.
Christ our Savior defeated death
and brought us
the good news.
It shines like a light
and offers life
that never ends.
11  t My work is to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.t 12 This is why I am suffering now. But I am not ashamed! I know the one I have faith in, and I am sure he can guard until the last day what he has trusted me with.t 13 Now follow the example of the correct teaching I gave you, and let the faith and love of Christ Jesus be your model.

14 You have been trusted with a wonderful treasure. Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.

15 You know that everyone in Asia has turned against me, especially Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 I pray that the Lord will be kind to the family of Onesiphorus. He often cheered me up and wasn't ashamed of me when I was put in jail. 17 Then after he arrived in Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me. 18 I pray that the Lord Jesus will ask God to show mercy to Onesiphorus on the day of judgment. You know how much he helped me in Ephesus.
