2 Timoteus 1

1 Pavel, z Boží vůle apoštol Krista Ježíše, poslaný zvěstovat život zaslíbený v Kristu Ježíši,

2 milovanému synu Timoteovi:
Milost, milosrdenství a pokoj od Boha Otce a od Krista Ježíše, našeho Pána.

Nestyď se za evangelium

3 Ve dne i v noci děkuji Bohu, jemuž sloužím s čistým svědomím tak jako naši předkové, když na tebe vzpomínám ve svých modlitbách. 4 Nemohu zapomenout na tvé slzy; toužím tě znovu vidět a být naplněn radostí. 5 Vzpomínám na upřímnou víru, kterou měla už tvá babička Lois, tvá matka Euniké a kterou, jak jsem přesvědčen, máš i ty.

6 Proto ti připomínám, abys v sobě rozněcoval ten Boží dar, který jsi přijal skrze vkládání mých rukou. 7 Bůh nám nedal ducha strachu, ale ducha síly, lásky a rozvahy. 8 Proto se nestyď za svědectví našeho Pána ani za mě, jeho vězně, ale v Boží síle se mnou snášej útrapy pro evangelium.

9 Vždyť on nás spasil a povolal svatým povoláním; ne díky našim skutkům, ale díky jeho vlastnímu záměru a milosti, kterou nám v Kristu Ježíši udělil před začátkem věků. 10 Tato milost se nyní projevila v příchodu našeho Spasitele, Krista Ježíše, který zrušil vládu smrti a skrze evangelium zjevil život a nesmrtelnost. 11 Právě to jsem povolán zvěstovat jako kazatel, apoštol a učitel. 12 Proto snáším toto všechno a nestydím se za to, neboť vím, komu jsem uvěřil. A jsem si jist, že on je schopen zachovat to, co jsem mu svěřil, až do onoho dne.

13 To, co jsi ode mě slyšel, měj za příklad zdravého učení. Zůstávej ve víře a lásce, která je v Kristu Ježíši. 14 Skrze Ducha svatého, jenž v nás přebývá, opatruj ten vzácný poklad, který ti byl svěřen.

15 Jak víš, všichni v Asii včetně Fygela a Hermogena se ode mě odvrátili. 16 Kéž Pán prokáže milosrdenství Onesiforovu domu. Často mě přicházel povzbudit a nestyděl se za mé řetězy. 17 Naopak, když přišel do Říma, usilovně mě hledal, dokud mě nenašel. 18 Kéž Pán dá, aby u něj v onen den došel milosrdenství. A jak moc mi pomohl v Efesu, víš nejlépe sám.

2 Timothy 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,

2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!

Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy

3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.

5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts

14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.

18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
