Saludo
1 Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús, enviado por la voluntad de Dios de acuerdo con la promesa de vida que hay en la unión con Cristo Jesús,
2 a mi querido hijo Timoteo.t Que Dios el Padre y nuestro Señor Jesucristo derramen su gracia, su misericordia y su paz sobre ti.Acción de gracias
3 Día y noche, recordándote sin cesar en mis oraciones, doy gracias a Dios,t a quien sirvo con una conciencia limpia como le sirvieron también mis antepasados. 4 Me acuerdo siempre de tus lágrimas,t y quisiera verte para llenarme de alegría.
5 Porque me acuerdo de la sinceridad de tu fe. Esa misma fe que antes tuvieron tu abuela Loida y tu madre Eunice,t y estoy seguro de que tú también la tienes.El testimonio cristiano
6 Por eso te recomiendo que avives el fuego del don que Dios te concedió cuando te impuse las manos.t 7 Pues Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor, sino un espíritu de poder, amor y buen juicio.t 8 No te avergüences, pues, de dar testimonio a favor de nuestro Señor, ni tampoco te avergüences de mí, preso por causa suya.t Antes bien, con las fuerzas que Dios te da, acepta tu parte en los sufrimientos por causa del evangelio. 9 Dios nos ha salvado y nos ha llamado a ser un pueblo santo, no por lo que nosotros hayamos hecho,t sino porque ese fue su propósito y porque nos ama en Cristo Jesús. Dios, que nos ama desde antes que el mundo existiera,
10 ha mostrado su amor ahora en Cristo Jesús nuestro Salvador, que ha destruido el poder de la muertet y que, por medio del evangelio, ha sacado a la luz la vida inmortal.
11 Dios me ha encargado que anuncie este mensaje,t y me ha enviado como apóstol y maestro.t
12 Precisamente por eso sufro todas estas cosas. Pero no me avergüenzo de ello,t porque sé en quién he puesto mi confianza; y estoy seguro de que él tiene poder para guardar hasta aquel día lo que me ha encomendado.t
13 Sigue el modelo de la sana enseñanzat que de mí has recibido, y vive en la fe y el amor que tenemos por estar unidos a Cristo Jesús.
14 Con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que vive en nosotros, cuida de la buena doctrina que Dios te ha confiado.t
15 Como sabes, todos los de la provincia de Asia me han abandonado; entre ellos, Figelo y Hermógenes.t 16 Que el Señor tenga misericordia de la familia de Onesíforo;t él me trajo alivio muchas veces y no se avergonzó de que yo estuviera preso. 17 Al contrario, en cuanto llegó a Romat comenzó a buscarme sin descanso, hasta que me encontró. 18 Que el Señor le conceda encontrar su misericordia en aquel día.t Tú sabes muy bien cuánto nos ayudó en Éfeso.

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,
2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy
3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.
5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts
14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.
