1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por designio de Dios para anunciar la promesa de vidat que se nos ha hecho en Cristo Jesús,t
2 a Timoteo, hijo querido. Que Dios Padre y Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro, te concedan gracia, misericordia y paz.Acción de gracias
3 Doy gracias a Dios a quien sirvo con una conciencia limpia según me enseñaron mis progenitores, y te tengo siempre presente día y noche en mis oraciones.t
4 Aún recuerdo tus lágrimas [de despedidat]. ¡Ojalá pudiera verte de nuevo para llenarme de alegría
5 evocando tu sincera fe, esa fe que tuvieron primero tu abuela Loida y tu madre Eunicet, y que no dudo tienes tú también!I.— PRIMERA INVITACIÓN A LA FIDELIDAD (1,6—2,13)
Lealtad a Jesucristo
6 Por eso, te recuerdo el deber de reavivar el don que Dios te otorgó cuando impuse mis manost sobre ti.t 7 Porque no es un espíritu de cobardía el que Dios nos otorgó, sino de fortaleza, amor y dominio de nosotros mismos.t 8 Así que no te avergüences de dar la cara por nuestro Señor y por mí, su prisionerot; al contrario, sostenido por la fuerza de Dios, sufre juntamente conmigo por la propagación del mensaje evangélico.t 9 Dios es quien nos ha salvado y nos ha llamado a una vida consagradat a él, no porque lo merecieran nuestras obras, sino porque tal ha sido su designio conforme al don que se nos ha concedido por medio de Cristo Jesús antes que el tiempo existiera.t 10 Un don que ahora se ha hecho manifiesto por la apariciónt de Cristo Jesús, nuestro Salvador, cuyo mensaje ha destruido la muerte y ha hecho brillar la luz de la vida y de la inmortalidad.t 11 De ese mensaje Dios me ha constituido pregonero, apóstol y maestro.t
12 Por su causa soporto todas estás penalidades. Pero no me avergüenzo; sé en quién he puesto mi confianza y estoy seguro de que tiene poder para proteger hasta el día del juicio* la enseñanza que me ha confiadot.
13 Toma como norma la auténtica enseñanzat que me oíste acerca de la fe y el amor que tienen su fundamento en Cristo Jesús.
14 Y, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros, guarda la hermosa enseñanza que te ha sido confiadat.tConducta ejemplar de Onesíforo
15 Ya sabes que todos los de la provincia de Asiat, incluidos Figelot y Hermógenes, me han abandonado.t 16 ¡Ojalá el Señor tenga misericordia de Onesíforo y su familia, pues él fue muchas veces mi paño de lágrimas y no sintió vergüenza al verme encarcelado! 17 Es más, apenas llegó a Roma, me buscó con afán hasta encontrarme. 18 Y tú sabes mejor que nadie los buenos servicios que me prestó en Éfeso; que el Señor le conceda su misericordia el día del juiciot.t

Salutation
1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,
2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy
3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.
5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts
14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.
18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
