1 PAOLO, apostolot di Gesù Cristo, per la volontà di Dio, secondo la promessa della vita, che è in Cristo Gesù,
2 a Timoteot, figliuol diletto, grazia, misericordia, e pace, da Dio Padre, e dal Signor nostro Cristo Gesù.Affetto di Paolo per Timoteo. Esortazione alla fermezza nella fede, e alla costanza nel ministerio
3 IO rendo grazie a Diot, al qual servo fin da'~miei antenati, in pura coscienzat; che non resto mai di ritener la memoria di te nelle mie orazioni, notte e giorno; 4 desideroso di vedertit, ricordandomi delle tue lagrime, acciocchè io sia ripieno d'allegrezza;
5 riducendomi a memoria la fede non finta che è in te, la qual prima abitò in Loide tua avola, ed in Eunice tua madret; or son persuaso che abita in te ancora.
6 Per la qual cagione io ti rammemoro che tu ravvivi il dono il Diot, il quale è in te per l'imposizione delle mie mani.
7 Poichè Iddio non ci ha dato spirito di timoret; ma di forza, e d'amore, e di correzione.
8 Non recarti adunque a vergogna la testimonianza del Signor nostrot, nè me suo prigionet; anzi partecipa le afflizioni dell'evangelot, secondo la virtù di Dio. 9 Il qual ci ha salvati, e ci ha chiamati per santa vocazione; non secondo le nostre operet, ma secondo il proprio proponimento, e graziat, la quale ci è stata data in Cristo Gesù avanti i tempi de'~secolit. 10 Ed ora è stata manifestata per l'apparizione del Salvator nostro Gesù Cristot, che ha distrutta la mortet, ed ha prodotta in luce la vita, e l'immortalità, per l'evangelo. 11 A che io sono stato posto banditore, ed apostolo, e dottor de'~Gentilit.
12 Per la qual cagione ancora io soffro queste coset; ma non me ne vergogno; perciocchè io so a cui ho credutot, e son persuaso ch'egli è potente da guardare il mio depositot per quel giornot.
13 Ritieni la forma delle sane parolet, che tu hai udite da me, in fede, e carità, che è in Cristo Gesù.
14 Guarda il buon depositot, per lo Spirito Santo, che abita in noit.
15 Tu sai questo: che tutti quelli che son nell'Asia si son ritratti da met; de'~quali è Figello, ed Ermogene. 16 Conceda il Signore misericordiat alla famiglia di Onesiforot; perciocchè spesse volte egli mi ha ricreato, e non si è vergognato della mia catenat. 17 Anzi, essendo a Roma, studiosissimamente mi ha cercato, e mi ha trovato. 18 Concedagli il Signore di trovar misericordia presso il Signore in quel giornot. Quanti servigi ancora egli ha fatti in Efeso, tu il sai molto bene.

1 From Paul,t an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to further the promiset of life in Christ Jesus,
2 to Timothy, my dear child. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy
3 I am thankful to God, whom I have served with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,t when I remember you in my prayers as I do constantly night and day.t4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you,t so that I may be filled with joy.
5 I recallt your sincere faitht that was alive first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am suret is in you.
6 Because of this I remind you to rekindle God’s gift that you possesst through the laying on of my hands.7 For God did not give us a Spiritt of fear but of power and love and self-control.8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lordt or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but byt God’s power accept your share of sufferingt for the gospel.9 He is the one who saved ust and called us with a holy calling, not based ont our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,t10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. Het has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!11 For this gospelt I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.s12 Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do.t But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is sett and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to mes until that day.s13 Hold to the standardt of sound words that you heard from me and do so with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.ts
14 Protect that good things entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
15 You know that everyone in the province of Asiat deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.t17 But when he arrived in Rome,s he eagerly searched for me and found me.
18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!s And you know very well all the ways he served me in Ephesus.ts
