Un buen soldado de Jesucristo

1 Timoteo, hijo mío, saca fuerzas del generoso amort que Dios nos da por pertenecer a Jesucristo.2 Has escuchado mis enseñanzas confirmadas por muchos. Ahora enséñaselas a personas dignas de confianza, que a su vez puedan enseñárselas a otros.3 Como un buen soldado de Jesucristo, comparte conmigo el sufrimiento.4 Ningún soldado pierde su tiempo pensando en asuntos de la vida civil, porque lo único que le preocupa es agradar a su capitán.5 Cuando un atleta participa en una competencia, no puede ganar a menos que obedezca todas las reglas.6 El campesino que ha trabajado duro tiene derecho a ser el primero en recibir su parte de la cosecha.

7 Piensa en lo que te digo y el Señor te ayudará a entenderlo todo.
8 Nunca olvides a Jesucristo, quien resucitó de la muerte y vino de la familia de Davidt tal como lo dice la buena noticiat que yo les anuncio a todos.9 Ahora estoy sufriendo por esa buena noticia hasta el punto de estar encadenado como un criminal, pero el mensaje de Dios no está encadenado.

10 Por eso soporto todo con paciencia por el bien de los que Dios ha elegido. Lo hago para que puedan tener la salvación que se encuentra en Jesucristo y disfruten de la gloriat eterna.
11 Esto es cierto:
Si morimos con él,
también viviremos con él.
12 Si seguimos constantes
a pesar del sufrimiento,
entonces reinaremos con él.
Si decimos que no lo conocemos,
entonces él también dirá
que no nos conoce.
13 Si dejamos de ser fieles,
él seguirá siendo fiel,
pues no puede negarse a sí mismo.

Un trabajador aprobado

14 Sigue recordándoles como advertencia delante de Dios que no se metan en discusiones que no ayudan para nada, que sólo destruyen a los que escuchan.15 Esfuérzate por presentarte aprobado ante Dios como un trabajador que no tiene nada de qué avergonzarse y que enseña correctamente a poner en práctica el mensaje de la verdad.16 Aléjate de los que hablan cosas mundanas y tonterías, porque esa manera de hablar sólo resulta en que haya cada vez menos respeto hacia Dios.17 Su enseñanza se propagará como un cáncer. Himeneo y Fileto han hablado así.18 Se han apartado de la verdadera enseñanza diciendo que la resurrección de todos ya sucedió, y con eso arruinant la fe de algunos.

19 A pesar de eso, Dios ha construido una base sólida que continúa firme, en la que se encuentran escritas estas palabras: «El Señor conoce a su pueblo»t y «Todo el que dice que pertenece al Señor debe apartarse de la maldad».
20 En una casa grande hay objetos de oro y plata, y también otros de madera y barro. Algunos tienen usos especiales, otros uso común.

21 Así sucede en la casa del Señor. Si uno se mantiene puro, puede tener un uso especial, consagrado y útil para el Señor y listo para hacer toda clase de buenas obras.
22 Evita las pasiones desordenadas que les complacen a los jóvenes. Esfuérzate por seguir una vida de rectitud, por tener fe, amor y paz, junto con la gente que tiene corazón puro y que ha confiado en el Señor.23 No tengas nada que ver con discusiones tontas e inútiles porque, como bien sabes, sólo conducen a peleas.24 Un siervo del Señor no debe pelear, sino que debe ser amable con todos, ser un buen maestro y tener mucha paciencia.25 Debe enseñar amablemente a los que están en su contra pues tal vez Dios les dará la oportunidad de cambiar y conocer la verdad.

26 Ellos están cautivos del diablo para hacer lo que él quiere, tal vez caigan en cuenta de eso y escapen de la trampa.

2 Timothy 2

Be Strong

1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.5 Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.6 The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.7 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,9 for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.11 It is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

An Unashamed Workman

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,17 and their talk will spread like tgangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,18  men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."

20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.23 But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.24 The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.
